REPORT CARD UPDATE

There is a change of dates for the release of this year’s mid-year progress reports.  On our original school calendar, December 21 was identified as the date to send home report cards from the first half of the school year.

The new date for mid-year progress reports will be January 25, 2019.

This date change is being made to provide more accurate and complete reports of student progress.  As part of the mid-year reports, the school provides results of winter benchmark testing - assessments of basic skills in reading and math.

WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME

Deciding when to keep your child home from school is not always easy.  Of course it’s important for your child to be in school, but when a child is sick they need to be home resting so they can get well and prevent the spread of illness to others.

A child with flu-like illness must stay home from school for at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever (without the use of Tylenol/Motrin.) A child with a fever for any reason must stay home from school for at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever.
  • Fever is a temperature of 100 or higher.
Flu like symptoms include:
  • Fever as high as 102 but can rise to 104 and usually lasts 3 to 4 days
  • Headache
  • Muscle aches
  • Tiredness/Weakness-can last two or more weeks
  • Exhaustion-sudden onset and can be severe
  • Sometimes but not always you can have-vomiting/diarrhea, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat

Diarrhea/Vomiting
Children who have vomited or had diarrhea should be kept at home and should return to school only after being symptom free for 24 hours.  If your child vomits during the night, we ask that you keep them home from school the next day so that they can rest.
