Finance Course for
Biomedical Innovators

For biomedical innovators considering funding through the NIH SBIR/STTR programs (https://sbir.nih.gov), it is imperative to evaluate the use of federal grant funding within the context of a broader financial plan. The primary learning objectives for the course are as follows:

  • Understand the importance of financial planning for your small business
  • Gain perspective on SBIR/STTR funding within the broader context of your financial plan
  • Learn practical approaches to developing a long-term financial plan
  • Evaluate the various sources of funding
  • Examine the use of comparables in validating your financial plan

Panel Review

Planning on submitting an SBIR proposal for the January 5th NIH deadline? Let us review it first. Our multidisciplinary panels mimic the federal agency’s review process and taps reviewers with experience in SBIR/STTR funding, technology commercialization and/or technical expertise.

The SBIR Advance program provides state matching funds, training and other resources to Wisconsin businesses to advance the commercialization of SBIR/STTR-funded technology.  SBIR Advance grants are used for commercialization activities that will accelerate business development and improve company opportunities for Phase 2 and Phase 3 federal awards and for investor funding.

Eligibility requirements have changed!  If you haven't been eligible before, check again.

Phase 1 award match: Matches up to $75K or 50% of Phase 1 SBIR or STTR award.
Phase 2 award match:  Matches up to $100K per year for up to 2 years of Phase 2 SBIR/STTR award.

Letter of Intent Due January 3rd
Full Application Due January 17th
