The Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, and Asexual College Conference (MBLGTACC) is the largest annual LGBTQ college student conference and U-M is bidding to be the host location.
Please join Spectrum’s Programming Board for their annual Home for Break, an event focused on creating a safe and welcoming space for folks before leaving campus for winter break. There will be free food, discussion, games, resources for going home for the holidays, and good company.
Mark Chung Kwan Fan (he/him/his) currently serves as the Assistant Director for Engagement at the Spectrum Center at University of Michigan. Born and raised in Mauritius, he immigrated to the U.S. his freshman year of college. As a queer, brown, immigrant man, Mark is a social justice warrior and Asian food lover while being vegetarian for 354 days a year on a leap year. He enjoys staying active indoors and outdoors, traveling to new places worldwide, and getting to know other QTPOC . He obtained his bachelor's of Arts in Spanish and French from Adrian College followed by a master's degree from Michigan State University in Student Affairs Administration. Are you an LGBTQ student seeking to grow your leadership skills? Come be alongside LGBTQ peers and develop leadership competencies! Spectrum Empowerment Leadership Retreat (SELR) is the first annual LGBTQ retreat that was initially rescheduled.
Spectrum Center is collaborating with Central Student Government (CSG) in bringing a delegation of 28 students to Creating Change Conference 2019 -- the largest LGBTQ conference in the country. The conference is Jan. 25-27, 2019 in Detroit, MI. Students are asked to provide a $25 fee to secure their place on the delegation. Out For Undergrand is a non-profit organization which puts on career-development conferences in Marketing, Engineering, Business, and Tech for LGBTQ+ college students. Applications for the Business conference are open and the first round closes Dec. 14. The other conference applications will open in the spring. You can apply to up to two conferences. The 2019 O4U Business Conference will be this Spring (April 12-14).
