CPS Building closing

College of Professional StudiesThis is a reminder that the CPS Building will be closed at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, and Friday, May 27, is a mandatory campuswide furlough day. Starting Thursday, the lockers on the second floor will be painted and we anticipate the odor to travel throughout the building. Saturday, May 27, will be used as a carry-over day if painting is not completed on Friday. Thank you for your patience and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

Marty's Message

Saturday’s commencement ceremony was quite a celebration. One by one, our graduates walked across the stage and received their diplomas. The audience was full of friends and family who packed Quandt Gymnasium to honor their loved ones with cheers, whistles, and chants.

One of my favorite parts of graduation is when our students walk through the tunnel of applauding and cheering faculty on their way from the indoor track to the ceremony. This is a part of graduation that no one else sees because it happens away from the parents and spectators. It is a moment that is just between teachers and students – a fitting symbol of what has transpired on our campus every day while the students were in our care. We taught, mentored, and encouraged them as they made their way to graduation.

I am very proud of everyone that made Saturday possible for 458 of our CPS students. From our faculty and staff who have each devoted a lot of time and energy to the achievement of our students, to our students who proved that they could make a commitment and work hard to follow on it.

Getting back to the tunnel ... It is apparent that many lasting friendships were made along the way.
