Love Bites (inclusive of Love Bites Junior) Respectful Relationship Facilitator Training

Two day intensive training | Locations in QLD and NSW | $395

Participants will gain knowledge and skills to facilitate the implementation of Love Bites and Love Bites Junior. The training provides background information about best practice standards in respectful relationship education, as well as providing information about the theoretical frameworks that inform the programs. Additionally, participants will experience the program by participating in the activities that are delivered to young people who participate in the program.

Advanced Training in Suicide Prevention

This new workshop aims to provide health professionals' skill and confidence in taking a detailed suicide history and developing a management plan to increase the safety of people planning suicide. The workshop provides practical tools for health professionals managing the full spectrum of suicide risk presentations including the acute suicidal crisis, care after a suicide attempt and assisting families experiencing suicide bereavement.

Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence

The day is arranged to encourage as much of the community to come along and support the next generation of young men as they take an oath against men’s violence against women in our community. There will be approximately 60 young men from three of our local high schools as well as our surf life savers joining in the oath. We would welcome as much of the community to come and support these young men in this declaration as it takes the village to raise the man.

Grow Bold Photo Comp 

The social media campaign will run throughout November, encouraging people from all walks of life to submit entries of them living boldly and smashing negative stereotypes, regardless of their age or ability.

With a $2000 cash prize up for grabs, this year Feros Care will be looking for an entry that tops last year’s winner – a photo of 92-year old adrenaline junkie, Audrey Kuchel, taken on a zip line adventure in Fiji.

Every Tuesday between 10:30am - 11:30am | Coles Supermarket, Old Bar

What a great initiative! Beginning Tuesday 21 November Coles at Old Bar will be implementing a sensory-friendly hour.

During this time the store will;
1) Reduce Coles radio to lowest volume
2) Dim the lights by 50%
3) Turn down register and scanner volumes
4) Avoid trolley collections
5) Avoid PA announcements (excluding emergencies)
6) Offer free fruit at customer service

A Language Guide: Trans and Gender Diverse Inclusion

Trans and gender diverse communities are disproportionately affected by prejudice-motivated discrimination and violence. 

The health and wellbeing outcomes of people with trans and gender diverse experience are directly related to transphobic stigma, prejudice, discrimination and abuse, including when incorrect language is used, often unknowingly.

The guide explains key terms and offers examples of language that can help us build safer, more inclusive environments for trans and and gender diverse communities.

Men's Resilience Workshop in Kempsey

The aim of the Indigenous Round Grant is to promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander expertise, interests and perspectives in violence against women research.

Scholarship: See Through My Eyes

The See Through My Eyes scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to university students who are vision impaired or blind, and who are working toward a sustainable and rewarding career in their chosen field. Up to four scholarships of $2000 each will be awarded to undergraduate or postgraduate students. Scholarships are for one year only.

NSW Community Safety Fund 2018

On 16 November 2017, the Attorney General Mark Speakman and the Minister for Police Troy Grant  announced the third round of the NSW Community Safety Fund to provide funding for community safety initiatives which will reduce crime and stamp out anti-social behaviour.

Applications for up to $250,000 are invited for innovative projects designed to prevent crime and fear of crime and help people feel safe and proud of their community.

The NSW Government launched today Round 4 (2018) of the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund (SHCIF), with $1.2 million available for new and innovative projects for social housing communities.
