Hi <<First Name>>

This fall has been very busy with teaching. In addition, I participated in an Art Retreat in Naramata lead by Suzanne Northcott - an artistically rejuvenating experience!

I want to focus more on painting this winter so I will only be offering one workshop.  I have booked the Pleasant Pear studio for two consecutive Saturdays - February 10th and 17th.

Taking Your Painting to the Next Level

A two day workshop.

This workshop is designed to help participants on their journey to reach the next level in their painting.  It will be of benefit to those artists who have become comfortable with their chosen medium but would like to develop their painting further.

This class will combine theory with practical matters.  Topics will include: design and composition; manipulation of colour; use of layers in developing a painting; use of different painting tools; and adding finishing touches to maximize impact.

Course Schedule

There will be 12 hours of instruction spread over 2 Saturdays.  Sessions will be held on January xx and xx at the Pleasant Pear Orchard Studio between 9:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Maximum number of participants is 8.

Participation is $175 per person. A supply list will be provided.

This class will be taught in a workshop format and will include:
  • Instruction of theory
  • Demonstrations
  • Participant exercises with individual assistance and feedback
The recommended medium is acrylic due to its faster drying time, allowing multiple layers to be created on the same day. The techniques, however, are applicable to other media.

These classes are suitable for intermediate and advanced artists. For more information or to register, please contact me at kitbell@shaw.ca or 250-868-3525.

OPUS Demo

I am doing a presentation at OPUS in Kelowna on Sunday, November 26th. The topic is

Mastering Perspective in Your Landscape Painting

Using the tools of perspective allows us to translate a three dimensional world onto a two dimensional surface. When well done, it is barely noticed but when perspective issues exist, it leaves the viewer with a feeling something isn’t quite right.

Join Kit as she explains how to use the various tools of perspective; including Aerial Perspective and Linear Perspective. She will also share how changing the viewpoint of a painting can dramatically alter it. Kit will use a PowerPoint presentation to illustrate the tools of perspective, and provide demonstrations of their use.

Advance registration is required.  Visit the OPUS webpage for more information.
