President's Note

Happy New Year! TACL had an exciting start to the year, with record attendance at our Winter 2018 National Convention in San Diego. Thank you to TAP-SD for hosting our growing #TACLfam!

In addition, 2018 kicked off with some big news:
  • Say hello to our newest official program: TAP-Orange County
  • Welcome to our newest program presidents: Oliver Jan and David Shau (TAP-Atlanta), Justin Chang (TAP-Austin), and Ben Watkins (TAP-New York)
  • Four new leaders will be joining the TACL National Board: Alex Shih, TAP Liaison; Jenny Lin, Director of Alumni Relations; Sharon Hsu, Director of Marketing; Vincent Chang, Camps Liaison. Get to know the new board members a little better here. Fun fact: they collectively have over 30 years of experience in the TACL community
I am optimistic and confident that this year will bring growth for our community via stronger relationships within the TACL community and collaborative partnerships with other Taiwanese and Asian American organizations. Stay tuned for more details in next quarter’s newsletter!

Here’s to 2018,

#TACLFam Challenge is Back!

Help spread the TACL love by meeting up with members of other programs (TAP, LYF Camp, LID Camp, PIP), taking a photo together, and posting it to Facebook or Instagram with hashtags #TACLFam and #lifeTA.

Each posted photo will gain points for each program (based on distance traveled, number of people in the photo, etc) – TACL National Board will tally up the points, and the program with the most will win a prize!

Alumni can earn points and meetups can occur in any city, so if you’re traveling for work or for leisure, hit up the TACL Fam, snap a photo, add the hashtags, and rack up those points!

The contest will run from February 12th to August 31st. The winner will be announced at the 2018 Fall Convention.

Round-Up Convention Recap

Convention Recap: Sky's The Limit in San Diego, CA

During Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend (January 12-14), leaders from across the country gathered in San Diego for the 2018 TACL National Winter Convention. Despite last minute flight cancellations and diversions due to heavy fog (the fog was no joke), attendees found other means to get to SD safely (shout out to LYF for driving all the way from San Francisco overnight). A new record was set -- there were over 110 attendees for this convention!
