Hello and welcome to Pitchin' Ain't Easy, the GhostRanch newsletter of design-related tidbits from the internet, important memes, and, of course, the latest dish on GhostRanch.

This is the time of year when people get stressed hosting parties, shopping for gifts, and layering up to brave the icy air. So I figured we better start off by clearing up a few items of business...

  • Is it too soon to be playing holiday music? (Bing Crosby is permissible. Mariah can wait).
  • Is cranberry sauce better made from scratch or out of a can? (Homemade. Get yourself on Pinterest, already).
  • What do you call a turkey playing a banjo? (A turkey that can pluck itself!)

PHEW. The rest is gravy!

Ooh la la: Presentation Inspiration

  • Today in superb storytellers: Russell Brownley is a filmmaker and visual artist with a great collection of awe-inspiring surf videos. Think Wes Anderson meets cowabunga.
  • The Storyblocks blog has some epic tutorials. "How to Use Classic Backgrounds" aka lessons in product photography (or A+ Instagramming) is one of them.
  • The iPhone X is officially on the shelves. Here are the best (funniest) reactions to it. Here and here are the best (serious) reviews.
