Kia Ora, and welcome to our last newsletter for the year.

Looking back over 2017 it is good to reflect on what has been achieved. First there is the NZ version of Progress for Providers which is available to anyone as a free download here
This is a great tool to revisit and check where you are at now. Our trainers Marie and Deborah have delivered some excellent one-day face to face workshops on Person-Centred Thinking and have just delivered the first day two in Nelson.

We were privileged to have Cath Barton visit from UK to deliver a Community Circles workshop and have supported several Community Circles to be established. It is great to see Community Circles getting underway in NZ.

We have enrolled many people on our e-Learning courses and have completed a NZ version of Person-centred Thinking for Everyone which will be available next year. We have had some good interactions with Careerforce about our training and contributed to Open Polytechnic course development. We have also spent time thinking about Wellbeing Teams but more of that next year!

We are looking forward to a welcome break and we wish you all a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.

Starting Community Circles in New Zealand
We are working toward Community Circles being available to everyone who wants one. Just a reminder to check out the new resources on: Community Circles

In Palmerston North, and throughout New Zealand a community-based movement called Sending Love is sending Christmas Cards and messages to elderly people in rest homes who may not get much in the way of contact or Christmas cheer. There has been a lot of talk lately about mental health and this time of the year can be difficult for lots of people, of all ages. Community Circles builds community around people throughout the year.
In the latest Disability Support Services Newsletter Virginia talks about how her Circle has enriched her life.

E-Learning - Positive and Productive Meetings
The Positive and Productive Meetings method, developed by Helen Sanderson Associates, is a person-centred way of structuring meetings to get the most from them. Positive and productive meetings don’t just happen. It’s important to prepare properly to get the most out of them.
In this e-learning package you will learn about:
Purpose - what you want your meeting to achieve, and outcome-focussed agendas
People - who needs to be involved; sharing roles and working to strenghts
Process - introducing the meeting canoe
Progress - how to check how you are doing and keep improving
Co-production - making sure meetings work for everyone, when you include people who use your services or families
Far from being something to just ‘get out of the way’, meetings should be an absolutely vital part of running a successful organisation and, ultimately, in supporting people properly as part of a united team. We have probably all experienced meetings lacking a real purpose or that have a real purpose but never seem to achieve it.
Positive and Productive Meetings were developed through bringing together ideas behind person-centred teams, and Nancy Klein's principles for creating a thinking environment.

If you're looking for an effective, efficient and affordable way to make your organisation more person-centred, or to develop your own individual knowledge in person-centred practices, our award-winning online learning packages could be the ideal choice. To learn more: online learning

Person-Centred Thinking Tools
Person-centred thinking tools help people to think and plan for their life.
What are person-centred thinking tools?
Person-centred thinking tools are a set of easy to use templates that are used to give structure to conversations. Using them is a practical way to capture information that feeds into care and support planning, as well as to improve understanding, communication and relationships.

One-page profile of the month
An important tool in planning is the use of one-page profiles that document what is important to the person, how to support them and how to keep them safe. People say they are valuable for helping new staff understand them, and staff have also developed one-page profiles to enhance their own working relationships. Thanks Jan for sharing your profile with us this month.
