Lori Larsen will be returning to review and teach more Balkan party dances for 1 hour this Thursday (tomorrow). We will dance your requests before and after the Balkan dance workshop.
Judy and I have finished the first 3 days of our 5 days of workshops with all the students (grades K to 7) at the Newton campus of the Sikh Academy. Lots of fun!
Burnaby's Christmas party is Tuesday, December 6, 7-10pm, at Charles Rummel Community Centre, 3630 Lozells Ave, Burnaby. Bring finger-food to share and wear an ethnic costume if you like. In addition to dancing to a prepared playlist, BIFD’s House Band, The Pirates, will play a short set of dances.
Extra events are optional and are listed here for your information. If a couple of hours of dancing once a week on Thursdays is as much as you want or can manage, that is fine!
- Prepare for dance parties with live music by learning Balkan party dances on Thursdays, November 23 - December 6. Lori Larsen, who loves Balkan dances and has been dancing for many decades, will be teaching for 1 hour each of the 3 evenings. We will also do dance requests before and after the teaching. This will be great preparation for the VIFD Christmas party on Dec 16. See info below.
- Dance teaching at the Sikh Academy Elementary Schools: in Newton, November 27 – December 1, mornings.
- Teaching at party in Agassiz, 7pm, Friday, December 29.
- New Year's Eve Dance Party at Dale's house, 16479 92A Ave, Surrey, 7pm to midnight, Dec 31. Bring snacks and beverages to share.
- Pre-festival workshop with Sonia and Cristian, Thursday, April 19, 7-10pm.
- Lyrids Folk Dance Festival, April 20-22, 2018. Featured teachers will be Sonia Dion and Cristian Florescu. Save the date!
- Post-festival workshop with Sonia and Cristian, Tuesday, April 24, 7-10pm, at Charles Rummel Community Centre in Burnaby.
