Scheduled airline seats from Asia to the Pacific set to increase
An increase of 7.1 percent in scheduled airline seats capacity to the Pacific from Asia is expected for 2017. Southeast Asia will continue to lead the pack with a 43.2 percent share of total seats, registering a year-on-year growth of 3.5 percent. Northeast Asia is also predicted to show a significant increase of 10.3 percent, followed closely by West Asia at 9.1 percent. Seat capacity from South Asia is likely to top the growth chart with 18.4 percent to the Pacific this year, albeit off a much smaller base.

Thammasat University Graduates’ Final Presentation on Thai Travellers at PATA Headquarters
Graduates from Thammasat University presented their findings and solutions for Tour Operators and NTOs to attract Thai travellers. The judges included Madeleine Recknagel, Public Speaker/Blogger/Consultant from The Sustainable Self and Lecturer at Bangkok University International; Theodore Koumelis, Co-Founder and Managing Editor of Travel Daily News Media Network; JC Wong, PATA Young Tourism Professional Ambassador; Parita Niemwongse, PATA Director of Human Capital Development along with three other PATA Intern Associates, Aisyah Yasmin, Tiwi Nazia Umaya and Veronika Forstmeier.

PATA China Zhejiang Gongshang University (ZJGSU) Student Chapter held an international exchange meeting in November for international students and their members to network. They welcomed international students from USA, Japan and Korea (ROK).

ECA2 scoops up prestigious awards for Budapest Opening Ceremony and permanent show in Rizhao, China
ECA2 of France teamed with Müpa Budapest at the opening ceremony of the 17th FINA World Aquatics Championships. The one-time event has just earned not one, but two Best Event Awards: a Gold Elefant Trophy for Best Live Entertainment and a Silver Elefant Trophy for Best Opening/Celebration/Festivity Event, coming in behind the 2016 Rio Olympics opening ceremony.
