What's Happening on the Farm

December UPDATE

Hello everyone!

Sorry for missing the past few newsletters- but we're back! The season is winding down and we are looking forward to a much needed break!

October/November Recap October was a busy month with the last of the season's farmers markets, Open Creamery Day, and the Cheese Festival. It was wicked rainy and windy for Open Creamery Day! Lots of brave customers came out regardless, and we all had a great day! It rained AGAIN for the Cheese Festival (oie!), but again Mainers braved the weather and showed up to make it a great festival. We'll all do a sun dance next year for these 2 events.

In November we vended at the Harvest Festival in Bangor. We do this every year and love this event. Make sure to attend next year! So many great Maine food vendors are there.
New Kids on the Block! Amidst all of the October business, Honey Pot had FOUR BOYS!!!! This was not a planned breeding. She was pregnant when we bought her in June (unbeknownst to us, and the person we bought her from). Throughout the summer, I thought she was just getting fat and that I was feeding her too much. But no- she was preggers!  One of the boys was teeny tiny, and he didn't make it unfortunately. The other 3 are little balls of fiery cuteness. We named them Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. We'll keep one as a wether for Honey Pot, and ideally we'll sell the other 2 together.
Winter Plan. Our winter plan is to drink lots of cider! Ok I suppose we can plan a few more things. This will be the first year you can find our goodies on a regular basis throughout the winter. We'll have cajeta, soap, and chèvre available each Saturday. We are vending at the Bath Winter Market, every Saturday from 9-12. http://bathfarmersmarket.com/winter-market/ We're also guest vending at the Brunswick Winter Market whenever a regular can't make it. We're hoping it will be a pretty regular thing. We'll most likely get just a few days notice if there's a spot open-we'll post on our Facebook page and our website homepage to let you know when we're scheduled to vend.  The Brunswick Market is also on Saturdays, from 9-12:30.http://www.brunswickwintermarket.net. Jon will be milking 2 goats through the winter so we can have some fresh cheese at market.

What else will we be doing? RELAXING! And PLANNING more awesome things for next season. 2018 will be a big year for us. We'll be milking 22 goats, we'll expand our barn, we'll put up an NRCS greenhouse we received funding for, we'll install a manure pad (also from NRCS funding), we'll add some new cheeses, and MORE!

2017 has been a GREAT year for us. We are so thankful for all of our customers, friends and family who have helped us reach our dreams. THANK YOU!!!!
That's all for now! Enjoy the rest of 2017!!!
