REMINDERS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Advent Lunches - Over the past several years parents have shared the gift of a warm and loving meal brought to their class teacher at lunchtime for the entire Advent season from December 4 to 20. We invite you to take part in this simple, yet thoughtful way in which to share gratitude for our faculty who hold our children with such care and dedication.

This workshop will teach you the basics of using homeopathy at home, with a focus on treating concerns such as acute illnesses (colds, flus etc.) and injuries. Saturday, December 9, 12:30 - 3:00 pm. Find out more link or register directly with Blanka at bponec@vws.ca.

Lost - A small stack of $20 bills fell from the wallet of one of our volunteers at the Christmas Fair on Saturday. If you happened to pick up some loose money and didn't know where to return it, please leave it in an envelope at the Grade School and we will make sure that it is returned. Thanks so much.

Found - A black handled wooden sword from the Christmas Fair has been found, please see Ronaye if you are looking for your sword.

FUNDRAISING

Due to the school holidays, orders need to be placed by TODAY Friday, December 1 for the mid-December delivery and both January deliveries. Your payments will be staggered as usual, the orders just need to be placed to the stores in advance. As you will have seen in Monday’s Week at a Glance email, December 1 is also the deadline to place Whole Foods gift card orders. Get in quick while stocks last!

Place orders by completing an order form at the school or by printing one from here. They can be submitted to Ronaye at the GS, Sarah at the HS or by emailing to vwsgiftcard@vws.ca. SPUD is also a great option for groceries direct to your door at this busy time of year. For information on how easy it is to support the school with SPUD cards, see link.

Grocery fundraising is a great way to raise funds for our kids without any extra money from your pockets. Please consider getting involved as every little bit counts.

Come one, come all!

Each year, on the last day of school before the winter break, faculty, staff, and members of our community come together to perform The Shepherds’ Play, as a gift to the students and parents. Performing this reverential and humorous medieval nativity play is a tradition observed in most Waldorf Schools throughout the world.

BRING THE BOUGHS

From the forest bring the boughs of fir and spruce and pine
Bring them home bedeck the house for now it's Advent time
Bring the boughs, bring the boughs, for now it's Advent time

Light the candles one by one count off the days in rhyme
Everyday a task well done for now it's Advent time
Bring the boughs, bring the boughs, for now it's Advent time

On the hearth a fire lay of oak and yew and pine
Drive the winter chills away for now it's Advent time
Bring the boughs, bring the boughs, for now it's Advent time

Tune the fiddle and the flute, oh let the music chime
Sing ye all let none be mute, for now it's Advent time
Bring the boughs, bring the boughs, for now it's Advent time
Many blessings
