 A Shabbes Network

This Saturday, December 2
Following 3:29 pm Mincha in Library

Join Rabbi Hamilton to discuss Rav Kook: Mystic in a Time of Revolution by Yehudah Mirsky. Contemporary learning will be followed by refreshments (Seudah Shleesheet) and Ma'ariv/Havdallah. All are welcome!

Year end is approaching and some financial planning is appropriate.

At year-end, some congregants choose to pay their outstanding dues and building fund or capital campaign balances, to help offset their tax liability.

Others choose to donate their required minimum distributions from their IRAs to KI.

While cash is always appreciated, some congregants choose to make a donation to KI through the contribution of stock.

This can be a very attractive year-end tax-saving strategy, especially considering strong market gains in recent years.

Check with your personal tax advisor to determine whether making a donation of appreciated stock can increase your tax benefit.

If you donate an appreciated security that you have owned for longer than one year, you may be able to avoid paying the capital gains on the sale.

In addition, the gifted stock may allow you to potentially deduct the entire value of the donation on your tax return.

Stock donations can also be applied towards various areas of financial obligation, such as membership dues.

An end-of-year charitable contribution to KI is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to lessen our tax burden and provide a valuable donation to our shul.

So keep on collecting those receipts and bring them in to be counted. Their most recent generous donation was almost $1,000 for KIRS!

When you check out, just ask them to stamp the back of your receipt. Then the next time you are at KI, drop off your stamped receipts. There is an envelope for them by the main office. There is also a shoebox labeled "Butcherie Receipts" which is on the table outside of Epstein.

Family Table Donations

Everyone should have enough nutritious food to feed their family. Family Table provides healthy food on a monthly and emergency basis to individuals and families in need.

KI collects canned salmon and whole grain crackers for donating to Jewish Family & Children’s Services.  Please place your donations in the wood box in the lobby of the Williams St entrance by the office and Library.

Magen David Adom Volunteering

Magen David Adom is Israel’s ambulance, blood-services, and disaster-relief organization, serving as emergency medical first responders for the state’s more than 8.5 million people. MDA is the only organization mandated by the Israeli government to serve in this role, but it’s not a government agency, so it relies on donations and gifts.

They are looking for volunteers to pick up and replace MDA collection cans in Brookline. If you are interested in this local volunteer opportunity, please contact Barbara Gershen-Swartz at doctorbarbara@comcast.net.
