ANNOUNCEMENTS

A NOTE FROM the Staff Parish Relations Committee:
As you know, Keith Ray, our senior pastor, is beginning a six week renewal leave effective Monday, December 4. During his absence, the district superintendent and bishop have invited the Rev. Sammie Maxwell to serve on our clergy team. We welcome Pastor Sammie Maxwell to our church and we invite you to read her words to us below.
I am an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church in full connection with the New England conference, retired, currently living in Clayton, Georgia. I was born in northeast Georgia, where I attended Tallulah Falls School through high school. I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and a pre-professional in social work. I hold two degrees from Boston University - a Master of Urban Affairs from Metropolitan College (1980) and Master of Divinity (1985) from the School of Theology. I was ordained an elder in full connection in 1987. I have held full-time appointments in churches in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. I have also served part-time in several Georgia churches. One of the many highlights of serving in New England was a special missions assignment to Jamaica after hurricane damage to the island. In addition to preaching and missionary work (which I really think are both evangelism and education), I enjoyed serving as chair of the Episcopal Committee for two bishops and as a member of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry for two terms.
My husband, W. Russell (Russ) Pregeant, is also a retired clergy member of the New England Conference. Russ was Professor of Religion and Philosophy, as well as Chaplain, at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts and was Visiting Professor in New Testament at Andover Newton Theological School.
Since retiring in 2012 and moving to Clayton, we have taught several Disciple Bible Study classes together, and both of us have preached with some frequency in churches in the area. I look forward to preaching at the Clemson church and serving in whatever pastoral duties come my way during this brief time. Thank you for this privilege.

Altar Flowers for Traditional Worship Services
Placing fresh flowers in the Worship Center Sanctuary is a beautiful way to honor God, to memorialize a loved one, or to celebrate a significant family event such as a birthday or an anniversary. A flower calendar for 2018 is posted on the bulletin board in the Narthex of the Worship Center. If you would like to provide flowers on one of the open dates, write your name by the date and give Carolyn Briscoe a call at the church office (864-654-5547) to discuss the procedure. You will be asked to provide an appropriate notation to be printed in the bulletin.
