With the holidays and winter approaching, the USA Air Freight Market is currently experiencing very high demand. Major airlines already announced that fewer passenger planes will be operating which also means there will be less freight capacity.
In addition, the improving economic conditions in the world’s major consuming markets are good news in terms of air cargo volume, and the recovery also is generating a rapid increase in low-cost and leisure travel. This is placing mounting pressure on cargo capacity at airport hubs and is having worrying consequences for carriers and anyone shipping goods by air.
As the industry’s busiest time of the year draws closer, shippers are scrambling for space on aircraft and paying more for their cargo as volume increases from Asia-Europe, Asia-North America and Europe-North America trades quickly mop up available capacity.
The combination of more cargo needing to reach its destination quicker, and limited head-haul capacity, not only drives up air freight prices, but also leaves shippers with few options but to build delays into their supply chains with all the inventory costs that brings.
Currently, we are seeing capacity shortages as well as rates hiking up on the following routes:
- Europe - US Transatlantic Westbound
- Asia - US Transpacific Eastbound
- US - Asia Transpacific Westbound
- US - LATAM Southbound
CargoTrans is closely monitoring the price increases and the new fuel surcharges introduced by airline companies. It is our goal to lessen the price fluctuations to the maximum extent as possible.To ensure space allocations are available, CargoTrans is also acquiring additional air freight capacity.
