Beauty products are a common source of toxins

Deadly toxins

 Dear <<First Name>>

Recent research indicates that the biggest cause of many chronic diseases such as cancers, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and osteoporosis are chemicals such as Persistent Organic Pollutants ( POPs) and heavy metals such as Arsenic, Mercury, Lead and Cadmium.

These environmental toxins are everywhere and are affecting us in so many ways.

So what can we do about this? Below are a few simple suggestions on how to clean up your home.

Firstly remember that what you put on your skin goes into your body. So switch to beauty products that are as organic and natural as possible. Look at Sydney based companies Nourished Life and Pantry Earth that specialise in non toxic products.

Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy holiday season and a wonderful  new year.

US guidelines for Fruit and vegetables

Eat organic foods

Eat as much organic and/or home grown produce as you can. If you can't afford 100% organic then buy as much as you can.

The US Environmental Working Group publishes annual lists of fruits and vegetables with the least pesticides (The Clean Fifteen) and most pesticides (The Dirty Dozen).

These are of course US guidelines for example I know that lettuce, kale and apples are heavily sprayed in Australia but are not on this list so I would strongly recommend that you only buy these if they are organic. We are fortunate to have many organic food markets in Australia so make the most of them plus supermarkets are now increasing their organic ranges!

For other organic foods (legumes, flours, spices, nuts, dried fruits etc) try Eclipse Organics or Honest to Goodness
(US EWG 2017)
Sardines are a good choice

Minimise mercury in fish

Chose your fish carefully. Unfortunately all fish contain some mercury these days but minimise your risk with the smallest fish which have the lowest levels:

Sardines
Anchovies
Shrimp
Tilipia
Salmon
Trout
Perch

Use clean water

Although our Sydney water is direct from the Blue Mountains and is not recycled the amount of chemical load in our water is astonishing. Use filtered water for cooking & washing. Avoid water in plastic bottles.
Infra red sauna is a great way to detox

Sweat it out

One of the safest and easiest ways to reduce your toxin load is using an infra red sauna. These are much more effective and safer than a traditional sauna.

They heat your body up from the inside out resulting in lots of toxin containing sweat.
Book yourself in for a few sessions in our sauna. Please contact me for more details or buy your own. Click here

Non toxic cleaning products

Researchers investigating Liverpool, one of the most polluted UK cities, were surprised to find that air pollution inside houses was worse than outside. They concluded that this was due to the toxic cleaning products people were using.

I used to use good old fashioned baking soda and cleaning vinegar but my preference is now the excellent range of Enjo products. Click here for more information.
