Each year at about this time I take a minute to reflect on the year and all that has happened. As I reflected on this year I realized how frequently I am reminded of the value of consistency as a means to achieving progress. You see, we live in a culture that loves the "new and exciting." We desire the newest technology, the latest and greatest, always striving for the next best thing. We follow this trend often at the detriment of the what is currently working well. It’s human nature to reject the mundane and chase the exciting.

Donor support can also be drawn to the new and exciting, but we know that it is only through the consistent and generous support of our donors that we can stay faithful to our mission. We are honored to have such a great number of faithful supporters that have recognized the need and have chosen to serve alongside Total Health for the long-term. Perhaps none more so than Charlie Friske and his wife Manette. Charlie became one of our first regular donors when he began a consistent, systematic giving program in 2005. Since that time, Charlie has never wavered from the program. Making his support even more meaningful, Charlie donates with payroll deductions through his employer’s benevolence program. As a result, Charlie’s donations are matched by his employer, doubling the impact that Charlie has on the ministry!

At Total Health, we believe that consistent quality primary care, while perhaps not as exciting as other mission work, is a key component to a community’s development. Dr. Jay Martin, Total Health’s founder, is fond of saying "As primary care providers, we treat the mundane to prevent the disastrous." Keeping people healthy allows them to work and provide for their families, thus giving the children the opportunity for a better future. With your help, Total Health provides this care to over 20,000 patients each year, patients that otherwise would receive little to no care. As we do so, over a period of time, through multiple generations, the cycle of poverty can begin to break. It is a long-term, often mundane process that requires consistency and perseverance, and thanks to your support, we are making a difference.
