Japan
Ghost Ship
Eight bodies in a boat washed ashore in the northern Akita prefecture, Japan. The skeletal remains are believed to be North Korean defectors. This is not the first incident, two other bodies and the wreckage of two boats were found in separate locations on Sado island over the weekend. A news agency, SKY news reported that "40 boats full of dead people have washed up this year."

Indonesia
Highest Level Threat
The National Board for Disaster Management raised Mount Agung's threat level to four because of "the possibility and imminent risk of disaster". So far an estimated 30,000 people have already left the area surrounding the volcano but rescuers and officials  have been facing resistance from residents. Mount Agung began erupting on Saturday, spewing clouds of ash upward as far as 5.6 miles. The ash cloud has resulted in the second day of the island's airport being closed, affecting over 59,000 travelers.

Kenya
Strong Opposition
On Tuesday, Kenya for the second time this year, sworn in Uhuru Kenyatta as the country's President. On the other side of the capital (Nairobi), police and opposition demonstrators clashed resulting in the death of least three protesters. Clashes also occurred when an impromptu rally led by the opposition leader Raila Odinga was hit by tear gas, forcing him to retreat to his vehicle. The Kenyan elections have resulted in civil unrest with over 50 killed since the initial August vote.
