RENOWNED SPEAKER DAZZLES AND INSPIRES DUT COMMUNITY


The Durban University of Technology staff and students were treated to an inspiring and moving talk last Friday (17 November 2017) during the Council Awards ceremony at the Ocean Reef Hotel, Zinkwazi.  

The institution roped in the services of Billy Selekane a renowned motivational speaker, life coach and a leadership facilitator who dazzled the audience and left an indelible mark to the fascinated DUT community.

Balini Naidoo

NAIDOO DESIGNS ‘PATTERNS OF RAISED DOTS’ CLOTHING RANGE FOR THE BLIND

The Durban University of Technology BTech fashion and Textile student, Balini Naidoo explored designing a braille identification system for clothing that will assist blind individuals in becoming more self-reliant and independent when making clothing choices.

Naidoo was one of the 14 DUT fashion students who showcased their unique, futuristic designs at the BTech Fashion Exhibition which was held at the Brickfield Campus, recently.

DUT COMMUNITY ENGAGED ON THE STRATEGIC PLAN 2.0

The Durban University of Technology Deputy Vice Chancellor: People and Operations, Professor Khehla Ndlovu recently held sessions on the university’s strategic plan version 2.0.

The staff interactive sessions were facilitated by the Institutional Planning unit on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Thandwa Mthembu. The two sessions were held at Durban campus’s Mansfield Hall on Thursday, 9 November and at Indumiso campus’s New Lecture Theatre (FC 1002) on Wednesday, 15 November 2017.

DUT Karate

DUT KARATE SEMI-CONTACT CLUB QUALIFY FOR THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Karate Semi-Contact club has qualified to take part in the VISU World University Karate Championship, which takes place in July 2018. The club’s second place victory has led to this achievement.

The VISU World University Karate Championship was formed during the World University Championship sports programme in 1998, in Lille, France. Steady growth has been shown in the participation numbers every year during the competition.
