Sumner Bays Union Trust newsletter

Sumner Bays Union Trust
Hi everyone,

There is a lot going on this weekend in our community.  It's a busy time of year.

The ABC of Flowers and Bees: This Sunday
Trees for Bees NZ and the Sumner Community Gardens warmly invite you to a presentation with botanist and pollination biologist, Dr Linda Newstrom-Lloyd, leader of the Trees for Bees NZ programme.

Honey bees all around the world are in decline because of Varroa Mite infestations, pesticide misuse and other threats. With habitat degradation taking away flowers which supply nectar and pollen, their essential food, bees need OUR help. In this important talk, Linda will explain what we can do to help bees find sources of nectar and pollen all year round and how we can plant our gardens and open spaces to be Bee Friendly

Matuku Takotako: Sumner Centre, Sunday 26 November 2017 from 4 – 5 pm
Gold coin donation appreciated

From Redcliffs School: Redcliffs School Fair, this Sunday!
Come along to the Redcliffs School Fair – bring the whole family!
Please join us as we gather to say a final ‘fair-well’ to our historic Main Road Redcliffs site and fundraise for our brand new school opening across the road in 2019.
Redcliffs School Fair is one of the biggest in Christchurch – a fun-filled day featuring carnival rides, white elephant stall, food stalls, good old-fashioned sideshows, crafts, plants, sweets, cakes, toys, clothes and books and more.

The fair is Redcliffs School’s main fundraiser and a vital source of income for IT, sports, music, support staff as well as playgrounds and seating for the new school hall.
See you there!
