Works completed since w/c 13th November

Eurovia Contracting have completed the following works during this time below:
  • Excavation of the remaining areas of carriageway and footway to allow construction of the central median with granite kerbs and channels within this phase of works.
  • Installation of granite kerbs and channels for the realigned footway.
  • Installation of feeder pillar sites, ducting and sockets for new street .lighting and zebra crossing lights.
  • Installation of bollards.
  • Reconstruction of the new footway.
Works planned w/c 20th November to w/c 4th December

Eurovia have started works on the new central median (shown below in the plan) on Queen Alexandra Road by Loakes Road, this is as part of agreed programme and traffic management plan. During this phase of works temporary traffic lights will be in place to facilitate its construction and to ensure a safe working environment during construction lasting approximately 12 days, finishing on the 4th December.
There will be temporary traffic management in place during the weekend both whilst work is being undertaken and also whilst no construction teams are on site. We recognise that this can be frustrating for motorists but the reason for doing this is to maintain a safe environment for our operatives whilst work is being undertaken, but also to allow materials sufficient curing time to ensure the quality of works remains high.

We will keep you informed of any further updates should unexpected weather or ground conditions delay our progress. After which we will then move onto the next phase of works on the northern side footway of the zebra crossing.
Loakes Road Zebra Crossing
Work Area 1 - Traffic Management Plan
The reason for the TM to remain in place overnight and throughout the weekend is to maintain a minimum carriageway width for all heavy vehicles and ambulances through the works area as well as allowing for a safe working zone for the gangs. A controlled crossing point at Loakes Road for pedestrians will also remain in place throughout the works whilst the traffic management is in place.

Eurovia Contracting will maximise their time on site during this phase of works, including weekend working on the Saturday and Sunday:-

Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 6pm
Saturdays – 8:00am to 6pm
Sundays – 8:00am to 4pm
Works up to the festive period and into the new year
Eurovia Contracting will stop work for the festive period on the 22nd December 2017 and return on the 4th January 2018.

Works will continue in the area around Loakes Road until after the new year with the completion of the new zebra crossing layout. Eurovia Contracting will then begin to work along the northern side of Queen Alexandra Road installing the new parking bays and kerb lines. The construction team will be working along the route and repositioning the TM as they progress ensuring that all accesses are appropriately managed during peak times. Click on the traffic management plans below to view them in more detail.

Access to the school, residential properties, university, hospital and emergency vehicles during roadworks
We would like to reassure you that access to all the stakeholders will be maintained at all times during the roadworks. On site our traffic management team will ensure that all emergency vehicles have priority access to and from the hospital where necessary. For all stakeholders in the area affected by the road works we will ensure they have access to frontages including visitors and deliveries throughout the works whilst we reconstruct areas of the carriageway and footway next to the individual roads and access points.

We advise all local road users and visitors to the area to plan their journeys accordingly, and to expect some disruption and additional queuing when travelling through this section of High Wycombe especially during the AM and PM peak times throughout the duration of the works from late October through to July 2018. Please contact our Public Liaison Officer directly (details above) if you have any issues or concerns about your access ahead of the next phases of the work.
Reduction of car parking
Please be aware that the car parking on Suffield Road between Rutland Street and Loakes Road has now been removed. The new parking arrangements and advice on alternative car parks can be viewed here.
