Many pieces, one student community

A kid-crafted mosaic in rural Highlandville, Missouri will bring beauty to a public outdoor space

The fourth and fifth-graders of Jeanette Bair’s art classes at Highlandville Elementary School are poised to complete a complex art project that has been more than a year in the making.

The project, which is part of the Placeworks Program, was crafted in collaboration with local, rurally-based artists.

The mosaic is set to become a prominent public art display, and Bair and her colleagues hope it will give students and community members alike a sense of pride in their hometown.
