Physics Advocacy in Action

In the past month, several APS units have been involved in advocacy campaigns with the APS Office of Public Affairs.

The Forum on Graduate Student Affairs (FGSA) wrote Congress to address how federal funding for science was important for their future and their current training. The members of the Division of Particles and Fields (DPF) and the Division of Nuclear Physics (DNP) both contacted their Senators and Representatives about the importance of federal support, using DPF- and DNP-specific examples. The Forum on Physics & Society also contacted Congress, addressing the more nuanced issue of the current spending caps on the federal budget.

These campaigns have reached 285 congressional offices.
