2017: Quite a year for Morning Sun Massage & Spa
|
|
<<First Name>>,
We're still amazed at the whirlwind that was 2017, are you? For Morning Sun, things were changing non-stop. Here's a summary of everything Morning Sun rolled out this year:
- A location face lift. Our studio was expanded with a new reception and waiting area, plus more space overall and larger massage rooms.
- Couples massage. This new offering makes us the only place in North Liberty that you can get a massage alongside your partner, friend, or loved one.
- We've grown... and are still growing. New team members bring our numbers to four: three LMTs, including Trissa (owner and founder), and an esthetician.
- Spa services. Along with the expanded team, we began offering skin care, spa facials, waxing, and sugaring.
- A new name. We changed our name to align with the range of services we provide. Don't worry, it's easy to remember: Morning Sun Massage & Spa.
But enough about us. Let's talk about you. What do you want under the tree this year? If a massage or spa day is on your list, we've got some specials for the month that'll make gift-giving easy-peasy, whether it's you doing the buying or someone else.

Add 15 minutes FREE to any massage in December
Holidays = stress, right? So we're adding a little something extra to your massages this month. Every 60-minute massage we give for the rest of December gets an extra 15 minutes added FREE. Hopefully the bonus time on the table will cancel out your Aunt Edna's complaining and your weird Uncle Chuck's yammering about politics.
Microdermabrasion more than 50% off
For the rest of December, add microdermabrasion to any 60-minute facial for just $20. That's more than half off, and $25 less than the normal price of $45. Without exfoliation, oil, clogged pores, and dead cells cause wrinkles and keep you from your best skin. Exfoliation through microdermabrasion stimulates cell renewal to balance skin tone and help give you smoother, younger-looking skin.
|
|
Fine print and important info: 15 minutes bonus time applies to 60-minute massages delivered from Monday, December 4th until December 31 only, and does not include couples massage or 90-minute massages. Please be sure to book a 75-minute appointment so we have ample time for your massage. Appointments booked for December but rescheduled to January or later are not eligible, and bonus minutes cannot be retroactively added to services previously rendered.

Sugaring vs. Waxing: A review from a sugaring rookie
|
|
When we introduced Sugaring services a few months back, we shared in this newsletter how it was different from—and better than—traditional waxing. One of our clients, Lydia F., was skeptical, but decided to give sugaring a try recently. This is what she had to say.
I've always hated getting my brows waxed, for three reasons:
- It hurts (even if they use counterpressure).
- I have to watch my sun exposure afterward, or I'll be stripey-face sunburnt girl
- I always break out where I was waxed within a day or two
Sugaring, on the other hand, was described as less painful and less likely to cause breakouts. It claimed to be gentler, since it removes only the hair and not the top layer of skin. All of my complaints, nixed. (Or so they said.)
I decided to give it a try and made an appointment to see Marie at Morning Sun.
You guys... it really is all it's cracked up to be.
Pain-wise, it was a little uncomfortable, but nowhere near the 'ACK, my skin is being ripped off!' kind of pain I experienced with waxing. Second, I looked pretty much normal when I left the studio—no telltale red marks to announce to the world, "Hey, I just got my brows waxed!" Which was good because I was headed to the mall afterward (something I would never have done after waxing).
The real test came in the days after. I experienced zero breakouts, which was awesome.
I'm now officially a sugaring convert, and I can honestly say I see no reason to ever use wax again. It's a couple of dollars more than traditional waxing, but to me, the price difference is completely worth it. Give it a try—I promise you'll come out a believer, just like me.
—Lydia F., North Liberty
