31st Annual Permaculture Design Course

Looking for a fun, immersive, and life-changing Permaculture Design Course this summer??
Please join us at CRMPI for

the permaculture education experience of your dreams
in the heart of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, in one of the worlds oldest and most established forest gardens and permaculture demonstration sites!

This two-week, internationally accredited certification course, will lead budding or established permies through a mind bending journey of self, Earth, and communal discovery, covering countless brilliant examples of ways in which the three permaculture ethics and the twelve permaculture principles, distilled from the ultimate sage, nature herself, have been utilized all over the world and throughout history.

Your thought patterns will expand like the fractal patterns of a ripe Romanesco...

Your comfort zone will be pushed to, and beyond, its boundaries, like a thriving rainforest reclaiming a clearcut field...

Your heart will gain a deep lasting warmth, like the center of a biologically active compost pile...

Allow yourself to recieve the teachings of the natural harmony that surrounds us in every space and moment from those who have dedicated their lives to learning and teaching the cryptic languange of mother nature. Our beautiful instructors,
Jerome OsentowskiAdam BrockCreighton HofeditzStephanie SysonAvery Ellis, and Vanessa Harmony are here to lead you into an ever expanding spiral of discovery and inspiration.

Camping in the pinion and juniper forests, group meals of delicious local foods, finding a community amongst the quiet of the mountains, developing your eye for the subtle design frameworks already existing all around us...this is your opportunity to take a step toward building a better Earth now and forever.

- each permaculture principle and ethic discussed
- culminates in student design projects using topics learned in class

5th Annual Permaculture Academy

The Permacuture Academy is a
two-topic immersive and hands on course, designed by Jerome Osentowski to delve deeply into the topics of forest gardening (4 days) and greenhouses (4 days).

Students may sign up for one or both modules, though we strongly encourage students to attend both modules for best results. Taught by
Jerome Osentowski, Vanessa Harmony, Stephanie Syson, and Avery Ellis.

Module One - Forest Gardening, Aug 11-14
This module is taught in our 30 year old, one acre outdoor forest garden complete with over 150 varieties of fruit trees, berries, edible and medicinal groundcover, hugelkultur swales, terraces, constructed microclimates, and so much more!

Topics covered in this course include: agroforestry planting and succession, guild planting, integrated pest management, herbalism, earthworks, water retention/direction strategies, rainwater catchment, tree biology and care (pruning, grafting, propagation, pollinization...), soil building, integrating livestock, and more.

Taught by Jerome, Avery, and Vanessa

Module Two - Greenhouses, Aug 16-19
This module is taught between our five greenhouses onsite of varying designs, sizes, costs, and levels of season extension including tropical and Mediterranean.

Topics covered in this course include: greenhouse considerations, design, and management, integrated pest management, vermiculture, compost tea, plant selection and care, soil building, and zero or low energy heating strategies (climate battery technology, thermal mass, woodfired sauna, and insulation and venting).

Taught by Jerome, Vanessa, and Stephanie

How is this course different than the PDC?
- design principles are covered by means of hands-on projects and observation, rather than systematically discussed in a classroom setting
- greater detail in topics covered
- a portion of the course will be dedicated to discussing student designs on their home sites
- NO certificate awarded

One module: $700, both modules: $1400.
Early bird and couples discounts available!
