This will be brief, because I'm sending it from my tiny laptop that makes it awkward to do stuff. Okay, who am I kidding. This will probably be plenty rambly. But it will have no pretty pictures because I'm on my tiny laptop. Sorry. Check back next year.

In the meantime...

1. Seriously Hexed is out! In this one, Cam is forced to join her mother's wicked witch coven. And then things go terribly, horribly wrong. Now she has to work with new acquaintance Poppy Jones, a super type A, A+ student of True Witchery to set things right. Ethically, as usual. This book wraps up the Seriously Wicked trilogy, and it was fun to tie up all those loose ends. (Okay, what I actually mean is I pulled my hair out trying to tie up all those loose ends. But I did it.)

2. The paperback of Seriously Shifted is out! And it is reasonably priced. Seriously Wicked + Seriously Shifted make a nice set, just saying.

3. My collection On the Eyeball Floor was nominated for a World Fantasy Award this year! No, I didn't win. But I went and wore a fancy sparkly dress and had an amazing time with some amazing people. (Still pretty stunned to be nominated, actually...I'll just sit around enjoying that for awhile.)

4. Do you need a bookplate for any of the above books? (Or any of the others I've written, that's totes cool too. But I'm not sending you bookplates for other people's books, because that's just weird.) Email me at tinaconnolly on the gmail by Dec 15 and I'm happy to send you one. Let me know if you want it inscribed (made out to someone in particular) or just signed.

5. Book recs! Again, sorry for the lack of pictures. But you can find all these either in your local bookstore or on Amazon. (Some of these I blurbed, and I'm just going to paste my blurb because I am that lazy, I mean, that pressed for time this year.) Links to the authors' websites this time!

Kangaroo Too, Curtis Chen - "A wry, fast-paced spy thriller with a million twists and a good heart. Kangaroo's dry humor kept me turning pages well past my bedtime." These books are SUPER FUN.

Jade City, Fonda Lee - "A sweeping saga of ambition, loyalty, and family," I said, but what I didn't mention in my blurb is that this epic tour de force can also totally be described as The Godfather with magic.

Heartbeat Braves, Pamela Sanderson - Romance readers! My friend Pam has several books out - this one is set at an urban Indian center (and if it's not Portland, then it definitely is a place very much like Portland.) Pam is a great writer and these are great stories.

An Oath of Dogs, Wendy Wagner - This is an incredibly interesting eco-thriller set on a distant forest world. It is also as creepy as hell. And at times reminded me of Dan Brown's Hyperion. Really good stuff.

Firebug, Lish McBride - Really fun series about teens with wild powers. These are simultaneously dark and hilarious, and I think if you like the Seriously series as an example of young YA, you would enjoy these as an example of older YA.

6. That's all, folks. It has been a really...interesting year, with a lot of ups and downs in it. I was glad to be working on Seriously Hexed, which, among other things, is about the ability of one person to stand up and make a difference. I still believe that.
