We are very pleased to let you know that the South Denver Islamic Center, Masjid Khadeejah, has won the lawsuit against Southfield Park. Arapahoe County court gave a verdict on Friday, December 1, in our favor. Alhamdulillah! Southfield Park has 47 days from today to appeal the decision.
Background on the Case
About a year ago, we filed a lawsuit against Southfield Park as they were not allowing us to build a Masjid on a piece of land that we own in that area. Southfield Park had the position that according to their covenants, religious use was not allowed, whereas we understood the covenants otherwise. Gladly, the judge has concurred with our understanding of covenants, so insha’Allah we will be going forward with the next steps of the design and construction project.

We will be engaging a professional architect to put together an initial design package for the building. The design proposal will then be reviewed by the City of Centennial and Southfield Park. Should Southfield Park reject our design on other grounds, we are determined to pursue our project in accordance with city laws and the covenants and we will deal with the same zeal and commitment, Insha’Allah.
We would like sincerely thank our legal team from BHFS who fought our case with the highest level of professionalism, competence, and commitment. There were 3 lawyers working on our case from this renowned law firm. We have incurred more than $230,000 on this case, all of which was graciously waived by BHFS. We truly appreciate them for their very kind support.
