Key insights from PATAmPOWER
China traffic boosts Cambodia arrivals growth in 3Q2017
The popularity of Cambodia continues to soar among visitors from Mainland China. Arrivals from that market posted the strongest growth of 56.8 percent, thereby boosting the country’s share from 17.3 percent in 3Q2016 to 24.9 percent in 3Q2017. Although Vietnam was second in terms of arrivals with a 16.1 percent share, the figures showed a drop of 14 percent in this period. Vietnam has traditionally been Cambodia’s top source market but China has grabbed the number one position with its impressive increases since the beginning of 2017.

PATA Issues & Trends – 2H2017 is now available
The second edition of Issues & Trends for 2017 focusses on the impact of over-tourism upon visitor experience and resident sentiment. Are highly touristy cities still tourist-friendly? Is ‘tourismophobia’ truly mainstream among residents? Based on exclusive data, TCI Research shares insights around what Asia Pacific can learn from the recent ‘Tourists Go Home’ trend in Europe. This edition will help destinations and visitor economy players get a better-informed position on this phenomenon in order to manage it well before it becomes a problem.
