What has the Energy Efficiency Association been up to in its first full month?

Since it was announced that there was going to be an Energy Efficiency Association set up there has been a constant stream of enquiries about how people can get involved. Well we are pleased to say that these enquiries are now being worked through and we have a steady stream of new members joining us, in fact we are signing up new members at a rate of two a day. You might have seen the membership logos popping up on twitter and linkedIn.
At this rate we will be close to 100 members by Christmas.

With the growth of membership we have been able to start doing things for our members and this newsletter is a brief outline of what we have been doing, and what we need members to help us with.

What is the purpose of the
Energy Efficiency Association?

The main purpose of the Energy Efficiency Association is to coordinate collaboration and communication within the energy efficiency sector.
As a Community Interest Company, we are a social enterprise set up to make sure that there is a coherent message within the energy efficiency sector and to communicate that message to a wider audience.
We want to give you the tools to help your business grow, and to help people save money through energy efficiency.

We are here to help you.
We are here to work on your behalf promoting energy efficiency in the UK.
Together we can make a difference to people's lives.
We are stronger together.

CEO and Interim Chairman appointed

Following a shareholder meeting it was agreed that Mr Gary Braybrooke be appointed Chief Executive for the Energy Efficiency Association. Gary was one of the founders of the Energy Efficiency Awards and has been an active promoter of the Energy Efficiency Industry for many years.

Mr Kenneth Campbell, has agreed to act as Interim Chairman pending the selection of a full time chairman at the next AGM. Kenneth comes from a background in the IT and publishing sectors and as a start up business consultant.

Meeting with BEIS

Gary Braybrooke and Kenneth Campbell were invited to Westminster to introduce the Association to BEIS. With civil servants from most of the energy efficiency policy areas, such as ECO, Green Deal, RHI etc present, the association was able to identify areas where we can assist BEIS in developing solutions that will move the industry forward. These exciting opportunities could create a stable platform for our industry through to 2030.
We look forward to sharing more details as we move forward

Government Consultation

We have made a submission to the current Green Deal Framework Review Consultation. As a Community Interest Company we cannot lobby for political changes, but we have provided feedback on specific questions based on our experiences and feedback from members.

We have also been asked to let members know that there is a Request for Evidence in relation to Cutting Energy Bills and Carbon Emissions in Public and Higher Education Sectors.
If any member has a carried out energy saving work for schools we strongly urge them to provide their case studies to BEIS before the deadline of 7th December 2017.
