Oh, no!  We made a mistake in our first mailing, but we've fixed it.  We want you to read our fabulous posts about the Do it Yourself movement of the 1950's and our awesome infographic on mid-century styles, but we sent you to the wrong link.  We ARE human, after all!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it...no.  Don't get us wrong, we love snow...when we don't have to go out into it.  Or shovel it.  Since we've had 70 degree days here the past week at Make it Mid-Century headquarters (and Susan is still wearing shorts), we're in no danger of seeing flakes anytime soon.

Without further ado, it's the last month of the year, and we're checking in with some highlights of the past month.

The Do-it-Yourself Movement of the 1950's

Over on the blog, we kind of went down a rabbit hole of research.  It all started with one article on DIY in the 1950's that piqued our interest and from there...a complete research paper (or just a really long blog post) was born.  Do-it-Yourself was a bonified craze in the 1950's, complete with record albums with scintillating music to work by!  (That's a record from our own collection, by the way.)  There's so much more than we could even intro here, so what are you waiting for!

A Field Guide to Mid-Century House Styles

The other big thing we've been working on over at the blog, is an infographic guide to the various types of mid-century architecture.  From Revival to Populuxe, we've got it all and it's all illustrated for you by the Make it Mid-Century elves here at headquarters.

Glitter Laminate
Remember that laminate questionnaire we sent out last month?  The results are in and they are fascinating!  First, thanks to all who completed the survey.  Here now are two of the big questions in pie chart format for you.  (Speaking of, didn't anyone try the pie recipe from last month?)

The first question dealt with the desirability of having glitter laminate back on the market:
You can see that question is pretty popular - out of all the people surveyed, 97.6% of them would like to see glitter laminate back on the market.  (See how we did the math for you there?)

The second question was what color laminate background (besides white) did people want to see recreated?  (The colors of the pie chart are the colors people would like to see replicated.)
As you can see by the chart, and by the sneak peak of the latest sample of our laminates above, we're hearing you on the pink and aqua and will be introducing those to our line when we launch.

When will that be?  We're hoping (knock wood) to have both shutters and laminates launched by the first of the year.
A Little Mid-Century Outro

Let's end this newsletter with a little mid-century music of the season.

How about the delightful Rosemary Clooney, singing her version of Let it Snow written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July 1945.
That's all for this month.  Be sure to keep in touch.  We love hearing from you!  Drop us a line or connect with us on any of our social media locations below where we post daily mid-century inspiration.  Last, from all of us here at Make it Mid-Century, we wish you and yours the best for this holiday season.
