FAQ

Question

My organization’s website is run by our parent company, which is based outside of Ontario.  Are we still required to meet the accessible website requirements?

Answer

Your Ontario organization must comply with the requirements if it has control of the website:

  • functionality
  • appearance
  • content

If the functionality, appearance and content of the website are controlled by your parent company (outside of Ontario) then the website accessibility requirements do not apply.

However, you need to make sure your Ontario organization is meeting all other applicable accessibility requirements.

Accessibility Tip

Consider how customers and visitors will move throughout a waiting area in your workplace.

Provide a clear path of travel between all elements in the room such as a reception counter, literature racks, children’s play areas and accessible seating spaces. This will make it a better experience for everyone.
