Mast General Holiday Gift Wrap Schedule

The Mast General Store has once again invited Sarge’s volunteers to wrap holiday presents at their location on Main Street in Waynesville. One of the most popular volunteer opportunities that we have each year starts this Saturday. From December 2nd through Christmas, volunteers can sign up to wrap gifts for free at our table at Mast General Store. Many people donate for the gift-wrapping service, but honestly, it is as much about seeing people and hearing stories about their pets as it is receiving a donation. Please join us for another fun year of gift-wrapping and fellowship with fellow animal lovers!

Sarge’s Annual Volunteer Appreciation Holiday Party will take place on Thursday, December 14th. "Sarge's has had a record-breaking year thanks in large part to our volunteers and we have some exciting things planned," Administrator Tiffani Watts said. "We can't wait to celebrate with all of you!"

Sarge's Receives Major Donation

Sarge's board, staff and volunteers were overjoyed when presented with a check from the Estate of Norman Jacobs on Tuesday, November 21st. Mr. Jacobs, who passed away this spring, was a supporter of Sarge's Annual Downtown Dog Walk and frequented Lake Junaluska with his beloved Chocolate Lab, Sasha. Norman's daughter, Wendy Rota, flew in from Denver, Colorado to tour Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation and to deliver the happy news. Everyone at Sarge's is thankful for Mr. Jacobs' generous bequest. He leaves behind a legacy of loving the animals of Haywood County.

The Holiday Photo Contest is BACK!

SARGE'S Pet Photography Contest is back, and this time, it has a holiday theme. Start snapping pics of your pets in holiday attire or in a holiday environment. Details and the official entry form can be found on our site by clicking here. It can be any holiday from Halloween through New Year's, because the deadline is in mid-January! Here's an example starring a former SARGE dog trying to channel some classic Carrie Bradshaw angst for Halloween!

Each month, Sarge’s highlights a pet in need of extra help. We’d like you to know about Shadow.
Shadow is super cute, sweet, and very playful! Unfortunately, Shadow has heartworm disease, and is in the process of getting his pretreatment. Sarge’s will soon finish the treatment protocol, which is daily medication for a month before he receives the injections of Immiticide, to kill the adult heartworms. Soon, the Bully mix will have the actual injections to kill the adult heartworms, after which he'll be on crate rest and leash walks. We'll take good care of him until he's available for adoption.
Sarge’s supporters can help Shadow — and animals like him who need medical attention and some TLC — by donating to the WuzBug Fund for Special Needs. Specify ‘Shadow’ on the donation, or donate to the fund in general so that money will be there for the next dog or cat that needs extraordinary medical care. To discuss details, call 828-246-9050.
