Property Upgrades to Greet You in 2018

We've been busy this winter here at Bowen Island Accommodations, getting organized to make our properties even better for 2018. Here are a few of the changes and upgrades in effect and on their way, thanks to the mindful homeowners of Bowen Island Accommodations and the fine local crafts people, tradespeople, and gardeners of Bowen Island. You may know about our resource page, Discover Storm Season, where we list all activities cold and wintery on Bowen Island. There, you'll find ideas and information to help you picture your restful off-season getaway (think massages, fireplaces, and where to stock up on books and DVDs).

While you're on our site, go to Bowen Guide>Events to find upcoming winter and spring events to look forward to and to plan your vacation around. Do you see an event that says TBA (to be announced), but would like to book your vacation dates for that event? Just send us an email and we can look into it for you, and find when the date for that event will be in 2018.

A few winter events to look forward to:

Various events at The Well - Bowen Island Yoga has re-opened this month as The Well, a place not only for yoga classes but other fun and spiritually-minded events. They have regular and drop-in classes, film nights, Just Dance nights, ceremonies, and music nights. They are now located in upper Artisan Square - come see their lovely spacious new digs! Check their calendar for events listings.

Eat Drink Paint! A fun night of guided painting, snacking, and wine-ing, with all supplies included. This is a great class for visitors; bring a friend or family member, or meet friendly locals at this fun affair. The next dates are February 17 and May 19. Do register in advance!

Blues or live music happens almost every weekend, either on a Friday or Saturday night, at the Bowen Island Pub, or Doc Morgan's Restaurant. The best way to find out who's playing is to give the venues a call. If you love to dance, check out the next "House" Party at the Pub, Feb 3, 9pm-1am.

Getting Around Bowen Island

We are often asked "Do we need to bring our car to Bowen?" and the short answer is "It depends." If you are fit, used to taking transit, walking a lot, are open to hitchhiking, and/or are okay not seeing every corner of the island, then you'll do fine not bringing a car.

However, you will want to bring a car if you plan to bring a lot of stuff, want to explore and get from A to B quickly, and plan to take home lots of treasures. Driving times are short on-island, but walking times are much longer due to hilly and winding roads.

Looking Forward...
to Spring and Summer on Bowen Island

Bowen Island blooms in the spring, and shines in the summer. If you've got a Bowen Island vacation booked in the near future, head to our Discover Spring & Summer Page for some ideas of how to enjoy the island while you're here. If you haven't yet booked, we have a few availabilities still remaining, which you can find on our Properties page. Our Events page and Activities page also offer a look at the kinds of out-of-the-house fun you could have while here, with festivals, community events, concerts, hiking, kayaking, and more.

Many Happy Returns
Evergreen Cottage's Most Frequent Guest

We've interviewed a few returning guests now, folks who have enjoyed one, some, or all of the Bowen Island Accommodations properties on numerous occasions. But Kristin might be a record-breaker for how many times she and her family have stayed at the Evergreen Cottage. They come in all seasons, on weekends and holidays and for all occasions, so we were grateful when Kristin was willing to share with us what makes Bowen Island special for her. Team Excellence Profile: Anne

It's our pleasure to introduce you to Anne, our longest-standing cleaning professional, whose attention to detail and focus on guest experience makes her work with Bowen Island Accommodations so valuable. When you see the cleanliness of our vacation rental homes, it's due to the keen eye of cleaners like Anne, most of whom, if not all, have been trained by her over the years.

BIA: How long have you been working for Bowen Island Accommodations?
Anne: Five years

BIA: What do you like best about working for BIA / why is it a good fit for you?
Anne: What I like best: working as part of a team of cleaners; the individuality of each property and the waterfront locations; satisfaction of contributing to making it a clean and inviting place for the next guests. Why is it a good fit for me? After retiring from office work, the part-time work of cleaning vacation rentals keeps me physically active.
