Who Loves a Party?
With a successful Annual Giving Campaign under our belts, we’re keeping our promise of reduced fundraisers. The next big event isn’t until March 17, 2018. Mark your calendars for the Spring Auction, which is a super-fun adults-only gala with food, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks, dessert, music, a raffle, and hundreds of amazing deals and offerings donated by popular businesses and Lakeshore community members. Check out last year’s catalog at http://bit.ly/lsa17cat (PDF).

In order to have fantastic items to auction off, planning starts now. The auction team needs immediate help with soliciting donations. It’s easier than you think; just ask! We provide all the tools you’ll need at http://bit.ly/lsa-sol. See what else we need help with at http://bit.ly/lsa-vol, then sign up online at http://bit.ly/lsauction18 or email pta-auction@LakeshoreElementary.org to help.

If you have a donation to contribute, we’d love that, too. Tell us at http://bit.ly/lsa-donate. Past Lakeshore community donations include an art party for six kids, the “Gravy Train”—six home-cooked meals for four delivered to your door, kids’ hike for six, private planetarium show at SFSU, two rounds of golf for two at the Olympic Club, two nights in a Lake Tahoe condo, Fire Marshal for the Day, Motor Perception Instructor for the Day, Principal for the Day, and many experiences with Lakeshore classroom teachers. We’ve had handmade quilts, handmade jewelry, homemade gourmet cookies, oil change services, pet behavior consultation, and so much more!

If your kids love the enrichment programs like Art, Motor Perception, Science in the Garden, Yoga, and Afro-Latin Drumming, and you want these to continue, then please support the auction, which needs to raise 30% of our budget so we don’t lose the surplus gained during the Annual Giving Campaign.
Congratulations!
A principal of his word - colored his hair red since we met our fundraising goal!

Shop at Sloat Nov 27–Dec 10 to Make Money for Our Garden Program
Lakeshore has signed up for Sloat Garden Center’s Growing up Green program. During Nov 27–Dec 10, mention Lakeshore to the cashier when shopping at Sloat, and they will give our school 10% of those purchases!

Need to mulch for the winter? Purchase some nice lettuce starts for the cooler months? Or buy a Christmas tree? Stop in at Sloat, Nov 27–Dec 10, and don’t forget to mention Lakeshore.
NEXT WEEK: Lakeshore’s Multicultural Night
We’re continuing the tradition of celebrating our diverse cultural community during the holiday season. Everyone is invited to this event and all are encouraged to participate—students, families, friends, staff, and faculty!—Friday, December 8 from 6-8 p.m. in the Community Room. We need your help!

Please consider helping in the following ways:
  • Bring a dish to share
  • Setup from 4:00-6:00pm on the day of the event
  • Cleanup starting at 8:00pm (the more helpers, the quicker the cleanup)
Show pride in your home country by:
  • Wearing traditional clothing
  • Perform a traditional dance
  • Recite a poem or excerpt from a literary piece by a famous poet or author from your home country
Please take the time to attend and participate in this extraordinary celebration of Lakeshore’s cultural diversity.

For cultural performances and presentations, or if you can help with set-up or clean-up, please sign up at http://bit.ly/lsmcp17 or email volunteer@LakeshoreElementary.org. Hope to see you there.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon—Food and Volunteers Needed
Wednesday, December 20 is our annual Winter Staff Appreciation Luncheon from 11:30am-1:30pm in the Community Room. Since the holidays are just around the corner, we will be serving holiday favorites and comfort foods for our incredible teachers and staff.

We need some volunteers to bring our luncheon together by cooking up family favorite recipes and for setup anytime between 8-11:30am and break down starting at 1:30pm. Sign up online at http://bit.ly/lssal17 or email volunteer@LakeshoreElementary.org if you can help.

If you have any questions, contact Karen Baksi at kjlee78@gmail.com. Let's show our wonderful teachers and amazing staff our gratitude for all the hard work they do for our children and community day in and day out!
Want to include something in the next edition? Please email newsletter@LakeshoreElementary.org no later than Friday evening with final content and your contact information.
