SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES SA
STRATEGIC PLAN 2017-2022

Late in 2016 Sustainable Communities SA's committee decided to embark on a strategic planning process. We applied for  Community Grant from the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters and engaged consultant Susan Raphael, also a member of our organisation, to work with us to review and clarify our purpose, values and aims.

We held a series of meetings during 2017. At the first of these all members were invited to contribute. Then the committee worked with Susan to refine the plan which was completed in October 2017 - see Strategic Plan 2017-2022.

The plan will guide us as we revive our organisation, take new directions and embark on new partnerships.

Thanks to the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters for the grant that enabled us to do this important work, and to Susan Raphael for her expert assistance.

We invite members and other interested people to read the plan and join us as we put it into action! Please contact the committee if you have comments or questions - info@sustainablecommunitiessa.org.au

SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES COMMITTEE

Our committee now has the following office bearers:
  • Chair - Monica O'Wheel
  • Secretary - Rosalie Day
  • Treasurer - Debbie Saegenschnitter
  • Membership Secretary - Barb Lane
Committee members: Tania Macdonald, Dani Austin, Paul Birkwood, and representing the Unley Community Group, Peter Croft and Anne Wilson.

UPDATING OUR MEMBERSHIP

Following the completion of the strategic plan, the committee has decided to review and update our membership records. There are some members who have not renewed for some years and we are unsure whether they want to remain members.

Early in 2018 we will contact all members who are no longer financial to ask for clarification. We want to keep as many people involved as possible so we will be encouraging you to renew and provide information about how to do this.

Our banking details are about to change so please note the new details which will be provided shortly.

If you have any questions about this please contact us at info@sustainablecommunitiessa.org.au.

NEW LOOK FOR SCSA!

Thanks to Salman, a design student at UniSA matchstudio, we have a new logo that combines our original logo image with the name of our organisation.

As well, thanks to a grant from Natural Resources Adelaide & Mount Lofty Ranges, we will redesign and refresh our website early in 2018.

POP UP REPAIR CAFE

Community workshop to learn how to repair broken items

Ruby Wake, auspiced by  SCSA, was successful in gaining funding for a pop up repair cafe in the latest round of SA Government Fund My Neighbourhood grants.

The plan is for a monthly Repair Cafe for one year in Unley (location to be confirmed), beginning in 2018, with tinkers, bike mechanics, builders, sewers, electricians, and many more, to help to mend a diverse range of items. The Unley Repair Cafe will be free and everyone is welcome, even if you have nothing to mend but want to learn some skills or meet others. Especially welcome are 'handy' people and those with tools so please come along and get involved!

Contact Ruby on 0412 156 946 or rubywake@live.com for more information.
