Cherubs NSW State Championships Round Two
Seven Lane Cove boats made the trip up to Belmont for last weekend’s second round of the NSW State Championships.  In a moderate nor-easterly breeze on Saturday Nicole Barnes and Ollie Jones took out Race Four from Claire and Henry.  Race Five went to Emily Ward and Andrew Stephenson with Claire and Henry again in second place and Tim and Chris fourth.  Those results rocketed Claire and Henry up the overall pointscore.  Nellie and Josh also sailed well to record a top ten finish in Race Four. On Sunday the breeze picked up and blew 20+kts with a gust of 29kts recorded on the start boat.  Only half the fleet finished a race won by Kris Fay and Nigel Blatchford in their brand new Cherub “Schmicky Shmootin”.  That win was enough to put them into the lead of the series after six races.  Claire and Henry are lying in fourth place overall, Tim and Chris sixth and Nellie and Josh eleventh.
