Competition Updates

You can find competition updates and state specific information listed below. The information found on this page relates to contest updates specific only for Tennessee TSA Events. Students should also reference the national contest updates for any changes to the competition guidelines. These are also posted online under student tab: Competitive Event Updates.
The Competition List for the 2018 regional and state events has been updated.
Prepared Presentation topics will be made available to contestants 24 hours prior to the scheduled contest presentation time. For our regional events, the topics will be posted online at 8 a.m. the morning before the scheduled event. For the state conference, contestants will pick up their topic at 8 a.m. from the registration desk on April 13, 2018.
Please note that contest supplies will NOT be provided for both the middle and high school's structural or problem-solving contests.
Structural Engineering/Structural Design and Engineering: at regional events the competition will consist of only the evaluation of the pre-built structure and stress test.
Problem Solving and Technology Problem Solving: Suggested and required materials are listed in TOTAL TSA (High School or Middle School) with competitive event guidelines. Any additional required materials will be posted online on the
regional conference event web page by Jan. 5, 2018, and the state conference event web page by March 2, 2018.
VEX Robotics Competitions
Tennessee TSA will hold the VEX Robotics Competition on both the middle and high school levels at the 2018 Tennessee TSA State Conference. All teams must be officially registered with both VRC at robotevents.com and with TN TSA conference registration in order to compete at the 2018 Tennessee TSA State Conference and 2017 TSA National Conference. Tennessee TSA Robot Events registration will also be open on Feb. 5, 2018, and will close March 5, 2018.
Update: We are now allowing advisors to enter up to three teams per chapter. If the VEX state contest team count exceeds the maximum capacity for our facility space, Tracy Whitehead, your TSA state advisor, will notify the chapter advisors as soon as this occurs, and entries will be reduced to two teams per chapter.
Please note: Advisors with three teams should clearly communicate with the members of their "third" team that they will be considered an alternate team until registration has closed. If we must reduce numbers to two teams per chapter, advisors will have an option for the third team to be entered in another event.
