Six Months?!

So much has happened in the past 6 months.  We hope you have been following along with our journey so far but we wanted to give you six highlights from our first six months here in Panama.
  1. Created our Ministry Leadership Team and established leaders for each of our key ministry areas.
  2. Built community by creating opportunities for people to connect outside of Sunday morning. This included weekend brunches, picnics and serving together.
  3. Walked with people through big life changes. We had the privilege to walk with two couples through premarital counseling and dedicate two babies at LifeBridge (these were the first ever at LifeBridge!)
  4. Met people from all over the world: our last count is that LifeBridge represents 20+ countries each Sunday.
  5. Preached 28 sermons.
  6. Learned A LOT!  Spanish language, how to drive stick shift (in absolutely crazy traffic), Panamanian culture, expat culture, about ourselves, each other and Christ.
It has been quite a ride these first six months but we see God working and continue to feel his presence in our lives and ministry.  We are right where God wants us and we look forward to seeing him continue to work.
We have enjoyed the privilege of walking through life with our church community.

Who Needs Christmas?

Who needs Christmas? Seriously, who needs it? Well, as it turns out, we all do. The Christmas story is full of remarkable moments all throughout time. We all tend to think of Christmas as a holiday that’s about God, but not really for God. But the truth is, the first Christmas wasn’t just for the world to understand God’s love, but God needed it as well.  Christmas changed something that was impossible and make it possible for all of us.  throughout the month of December we will be discovering just how important the Christmas story really is—for all of us.

Building Together

Meet those making an impact at LifeBridge

As a part of our Ministry Leadership Team, Cleide and Tracy oversee the Hospitality and Greeting. These two make a dynamic duo and help people feel right at home from the moment they enter and enable people to become more connected and involved.

Cleide has been an integral part of the LifeBridge community since day one.  She was instrumental in the church plant when it first launched and continues to serve in numerous roles at LifeBridge.  Tracy has been attending and serving at LifeBridge for over two years and is always willing to pitch in and has a desire to see the church grow and be home for the expats of Panama.
Cleide is a Panamanian and also spent time in the States studying and then returned to Panama where he works in Human Resources. She is one of the many who make up our multicultural community.
Tracy is South African and works at the International School of Panama as a 5th grade teacher. She has a tremendous amount of cross cultural experiences and brings a great perspective ot our multicultural community.

In each newsletter we will share a tid-bit about Panamanian life. Something unique, interesting or fun.

Christmas in the tropics is different. It feels strange to see Christmas lights on people's houses, malls decked out with a line to see Santa and Christmas trees going up all while it's 80 degrees outside. Although palm trees line the streets people still associate snow with the holiday.

For Panamanians, Christmas eve is the most important day of the holiday and families will gather and celebrate through the night.  All good Panamanian fiestas will go into the morning hours of the next day, Christmas eve is no different.

Praise & Prayer

We deeply appreciate your prayers for us and LifeBridge.

  • Praise for new connections.  We see new people at LifeBridge every Sunday and not only are they coming, but they want to connect and be involved.  It's incredible see someone come for the first time and be serving within the first month.
  • Christmas series. We will have the 'Who Needs Christmas' series throughout the entire month of December.  Pray that it impacts those who hear it and that we connect with people who may be hearing this for the first time.
  •  Leadership. Pray as we continue to meet as a Ministry Leadership Team.  Pray that our group would have unity and that as a group we set the tone for the rest of the congregation.
  • Life Groups.  We will start two LifeGroups in January.  Pray for the preparation and planning for these and those who will lead and host.
Thank you for you prayers and support!
