Runoff Elections - Tuesday, December 5 - GO VOTE!
Runoff elections for Mayor, City Council President, City Council District 9 (our rep), Board of Education District 5 & District 7 At Large, Fulton County Commission Chair, and Fulton County Commissioner District 4 will be held on Tuesday, December 5. Underwood Hills residents (if it's your registered voting address) can vote at the Defoor Centre from 7AM until 8PM. These elections are so important for our neighborhood, and we strongly encourage you to learn about each candidate and rock the vote! While all elections are important, our local elections have the biggest impact on our day-to-day quality of life including the management of roads, crime, schools, traffic, trash pickup, wastewater management, parks, etc. The UHNA Executive Committee is endorsing:
- Mary Norwood for Mayor
- Felicia Moore for City Council President
- Dustin Hillis for City Council Member District 9
UHNA is a 501(c)(4) non-profit designed to advance the interests of our community. UHNA generally does not endorse candidates or otherwise get involved in politics. Given the low voter turnout and the direct impact this election has on the welfare of our neighborhood, the executive committee has decided to inform the neighborhood of the candidates with proven records of responding to neighborhood concerns and inquiries. The candidates above are all familiar with the wants and needs of our neighborhood. Each is a common fixture at community functions, and each has attended neighborhood meetings when we have asked.
In short, we are confident that these three candidates provide the best chance of a responsive local government. We hope that you will support them in the December 5 runoff election!

Street Execs Trap Wonderland
Felicia Moore received complaints from neighbors about the winter carnival that is going on at Street Execs Studio on Defoor Place. In short order, she had a zoning inspector check out what was going on and they passed the following feedback back to UHNA.
On November 28, an on-site zoning inspection was conducted at the above referenced location, per complaint received. This property is currently zoned I-1. The manager/operator of the business at this location was present during our inspection. The inspection revealed zoning violations resulting in zoning violation correction notices being issued. The manager/operator was requested to cease and desist or obtain any allowable permits for said violations. See below for details of violations.
Violations cited:
- Outdoor amusement enterprises, exhibits, entertainments, meetings, displays or sales area operating without a special administrative permit.
- Illegal signs-erected with obtaining a permit.
- Building structures erected without a building permit.
Please note that the off-street parking minimum requirements, at this location, do not appear to be in violation for a studio use in an I-1 zoning district. However, we are further investigating this matter, with respect to parking allowances.
We will provide further updates as appropriate on Nextdoor or via eNews.

UHERO
We are making great progress in forming our Underwood Hills Emergency Response Operation team and will begin having training sessions in January. Our UHERO team is an effort to provide our wonderful neighborhood with help in case of a major disaster that would delay the arrival of first responders from the City of Atlanta (hurricane, tornado, etc.). The training will also provide neighbors with the knowledge and skills to help their own families in daily life emergencies.
If you are interested in joining our team, please complete this questionnaire and return it to Cynthia Williams. All training is free. Priority will be given to members of the Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association.
