I am happy to announce my first solo show in London, Ancient Light, which will take place in the Blyth Gallery at Imperial College London during January 2018. This exhibition will explore how light from incredibly distant stars can directly affect photosensitive film. Original negatives will be displayed alongside silver gelatin prints.

TECHNIQUES OF THE OBSERVER //
THE LIGHT POSTGRADUATE READING GROUP AT UAL
On 30 November, I lead the new Light Postgraduate Reading Group based at Central Saint Martins. I used "Techniques of the Observer" by Jonathan Crary as a starting point, exploring first of all how Goethe made a personal distinction between objective truth and subjective perception after seeing strange colours and forms within a camera obscura. Throughout the reading group we discussed the camera and objectivity in art and science, the retinal after image, optics and objectivity, perception of colour, the camera occur, illusions - kaleidoscopes, dioramas, stereoscopes and the phantasmagoria. The Light Reading Group is a new initiative started by myself (practice based MPhil researcher at the Royal College of Art) and Sara Buoso (PhD candidate at Central Saint Martins). In May 2018 we will be organising a symposium at Chelsea College of Art for the new International Day of Light. Please email myself or Sara Buoso if you would like to join, or propose a session.
