Directors Report

I can’t help but think somebody upset summer! The weather has been variable to say the least but nevertheless we are maintaining attendance numbers at training and on Sunday club days which is fantastic to see and I am told entry numbers for the first nipper carnivals is pretty impressive too. Go Trigg!!
There is also an upward trend in volunteer participation across the club with so many new families joining our club and getting involved. Enthusiasm is infectious. Volunteers are a vital resource in supporting our club to operate as efficiently and successfully as it does. Please don’t be shy in stepping forward there are roles to suit everybody on dry land or ocean bound.
Many of you would be aware that the Rotary Club of Karrinyup have been a long term financial supporter of Trigg and this season they are purchasing two new Surf Rescue Boards totalling nearly $4k!!! Fantastic news and we are very grateful for their ongoing support. The Rescue Boards should be in situ in the next week or so. I would also like to express gratitude to the generosity of our Bronze sponsor DENMAC who reconfigured the ski storage facilities and undertook upgrades around the club supplying labour, materials and tools at nil cost. Thank you so much to club member Rob Innocent (DENMAC Managing Director) and his team.
As this goes to press we have the SLSWA annual street appeal today thanks to some of our youth who have stepped up to shake the tins in the metropolitan area.
Finally, the clubs major fundraising event the ‘Tower to Tower Ocean Classic’ is back and being hosted at Trigg beach on Saturday 16 December please support either as a participant or volunteer and share with friends. Yes this is open to the general public and this year we have multiple events catering for juniors also. Go to www.trybooking.com/TDPB for bookings and event information.

WEEKLY SURFBOAT TRAINING AT TRIGG

Ergo training every Wednesday evening at 5 pm. · Sundays Boat Training at 10pm on the beach. (This Sunday is the Surf Boat Carnival - training re-commencing Sunday 10 December).
All current Boaties and new Surfboat rowers welcome.

MERCHANDISE UPDATE

Please note that sales are up in the club shop from previous years and this has meant we have had to place top up orders with suppliers. We are therefore short on junior bathers in some sizes and we are hoping to have the stock in before Christmas and club polo shirts in the next week or so. We are a small not for profit and as such do not have the capacity to hold large volumes of stock.

Sports Update

With the season well underway surf sports has had a busy start to the season. Trigg Island defended its state title winning the Endurance Championships held at our home beach seeing many of our athletes taking out their pet events. Last weekend was a busy weekend for Trigg Island.
Saturday saw The Doctor Ocean Race (paddle from Rottnest Island to Sorrento) held with the majority of our ski team, masters, youth and open all taking part with a lot of our members finishing inside the top 30. Sunday saw the start of the Sunsmart Senior Carnivals with our under 14s participating for the first time as senior athletes. The small team from Trigg Island excelled in all disciplines.
These carnivals are a great opportunity for all our member to be a part of the Trigg team while honing their life saving and surf sports skills.
This weekend Surf League kicks off at North Cottesloe. This is the new format from SLSWA where all disciplines from Boats/Water and Beach competitors race for their clubs in a format using specialised athletes. Trigg Island have entered two teams with a mix of experience and youth. Get down to North Cott on Sunday and support our athletes!

Bronze requals update

WET PROFICIENCY

This Saturday 2^nd December commencing at 9am, then 9.30am then 10.00am.

We anticipate that there are still over 130 members that need to do their wet requalification, and thus we would appreciate members not all arriving at 9am, as this will overload our Trainers and Assessors.

Last chance for Wet proficiency is Sunday 17^th December at 9am. Please note that this is also the Junior Christmas Party.

DRY PROFICIENCY

Last opportunity for members to requalify their resuscitation and other dry skills is Friday 8^thDecember, commencing at 5pm.

If you can not attend the last session, it is imperative that you email the Proficiency Co-ordinator as soon as possible, so that we can schedule a small group session.

2017/18 Club State and Aussie Shirt for Youth/Opens/Masters/March Past/Boat Crew/Spectators

If you missed out last season we are once again offering the green check shirt at $48. This includes delivery and embroidery. Did you know that wearing a team uniform fosters unity, loyalty, equality, motivates team members to succeed, creates solidarity and more importantly a positive team spirit!

Sample sizes this season are available in both male and female sizes for you to try before you pay and place an order. You will receive your shirt end of January 2018.

You can try on the shirts at the club shop on the following days/times:

Friday 8 December 5:00 – 6:00pm

Saturday 9 December 8:30 – 10:00am

AUSSIE TITLES 2018 - ENTRIES

Yes it is that time again and the entries for Aussies 2018 are now open.
Please see relevant dates below and entry forms are on the notice board in the Operations shed.

ENTRIES CLOSE:
•   Early bird entry- which means you have your entry in by the 3 January 2018. The cost of entry is $90.00 per competitor
•   Normal entry - which means if you have your entry in by the 4 March 2018 the cost of entry, is $105.00 per competitor.
•   Late entry – which means if you miss both other entry deadlines and have your entry in by the 25 March 2018 the cost of entry, is $155.00 per competitor.

OCEAN SWIM – Please note this is a separate event and is $35.00 as part of Early Bird entry, $45.00 as part of Normal entry and $55.00 as part of late entry. On the day entry $60.00. Entries for this event can only be completed through on-line web form- https://sls.com.au/aussieoceanswim/ Payments can be made through the Surf Guard, at the office during office hours or direct deposit.
Please quote your name and that it is for Aussies 2018.

Tower to Tower Ocean Classic Volunteers Required

Registrations are now open for the Tower to Tower Ocean Classic to be held on Saturday 16 December. This is a major fundraising event for the club and a great opportunity to bring Perth’s community of ocean and beach athletes together to compete on the best beach in WA.

If you are not planning on being a participant you can still play a major part by volunteering on the morning helping to make this event a success. Any amount of time you can give will be much appreciated.

We are looking for volunteers to assist in the following areas:

Beach Set Up/Pack Up - See Boots Campbell
Water Safety – We need lots Kevin has already put the call out!! IRB Drivers/Crews, Tubes and Rescue Boards - See Kevin Duguid
