TIP Conference 2018

Engaging Diverse Students Using Project Based Learning

The Center for Faculty Excellence hosts a semesterly conference on technology, innovation, and pedagogy. This year's conference will be held on January 11, 2018 from 11:30 - 2:30 and will focus on student engagement, classroom management, large lectures, and flipped classrooms.

Our keynote speaker is Jon Corippo, the Director of Academic Innovation at CUE.

Accessibility Tip

Make Your Online Materials Accessible

Make sure your videos are captioned. Closed Captions help most students. According to a national survey (https://tinyurl.com/y8oy6ozm) of 2,124 students, more than 70 percent of those without hearing impairments used the captioning, mostly as a learning aid.

Strengthen your skills as an online instructor

This certificate is designed for those faculty who are currently teaching a fully online or a hybrid/blended course. Through an interactive cohort, participants will enhance and strengthen current skills to become a more effective instructor in both the pedagogy and practices of online instruction.

Program Dates are February 5 - May 11, 2018

Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC)

The WAC Certificate Seminars are hands-on workshops where you'll develop assignments and classroom strategies that help your students produce more effective writing.

iClicker Update Clinic

Thursday, December 7 in the Center for Faculty Excellence. The two part clinic will include:

1. "I'm ready to start using iClicker Cloud!" workshop from 12:00 - 12:45 p.m. Lunch will be provided!

Register for the iClicker workshop.

2. Open lab time from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Come meet with Steve Foster from iClicker. He will provide support for any instructor using iClicker Class or iClicker Cloud. He will also be checking the firmware on iClicker bases so bring your base with you!!

Would you like to provide praise or encouragement to motivate your students? No time and too many students? Using the retention center in Bb, you can quickly identify student strengths and weaknesses and quickly send an email to multiple students offering encouragement, advice or praise.

Faculty & students can contact the Academic Technology Resource Center (559-278-7373) or stop by their office located on the second floor of the Henry Madden Library (HML 2131) Monday- Friday from 8am-5pm.
