Camille Palmer is the newest tenure-track faculty hire in the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE). She did her undergraduate studies in health physics at Oregon State before earning both her master’s (1999) and doctorate (2003) in nuclear and radiological engineering from the University of Cincinnati.

Holschuh's Research Lands Him Distinguished INL Appointment
Tommy Holschuh earned his doctorate in nuclear engineering from the Oregon State School of Nuclear Science and Engineering in June 2017. In August, he, along with Abdalla Abou Jaoude from the Georgia Institute of Technology, was named one of two inaugural recipients of the Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Deslonde de Boisblanc distinguished postdoctoral appointment. INL is the nation’s preeminent nuclear energy lab, and Holschuh will be using a novel method he developed at Oregon State to support the modeling of its Transient Reactor Test Facility (TREAT).

Foley and Moussaoui Selected as Inaugural INL Graduate Fellows
Idaho National Laboratory is the premier nuclear research lab in the country and maintains close ties with Oregon State. The selection of Oregon State graduate students Ari Foley and Musa Moussaoui as two of the inaugural class of INL Graduate Fellows promises to continue strengthening the partnership. They will be contributing to nuclear nonproliferation and security programs as well as next-generation nuclear power technology.

Professor Jose Reyes Retires from Oregon State Academic Career

Jose Reyes, professor of nuclear engineering, is retiring after more than 30 years of service and will be appointed professor emeritus. First hired as an assistant professor at Oregon State University in 1987, Reyes was promoted to full professor in 1996 and served as the head of the College of Engineering’s Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Health Physics (now School of Nuclear Science and Engineering) from 2005 to 2010. He is the co-founder and chief technology officer of nuclear reactor company NuScale Power.

Oregon State University’s School of Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) will fill one or more full-time (1.00 FTE), tenure-track, 9-month assistant/associate professor positions to begin September 17, 2018. Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and developing a sustainable, externally-funded and nationally recognized research program in a technical subdiscipline of nuclear science and engineering. A Ph.D. in nuclear engineering, or a closely related field is required. Experience with (i) nuclear materials science, (ii) radiation transport modeling and simulation, (iii) nuclear safety and risk analysis, (iv) nuclear fuel cycle technologies, (v) nuclear reactor physics, (vi) nuclear systems design and analysis, and/or (vii) nuclear nonproliferation/safeguards/nuclear security is preferred.
