Dec. 4 test of emergency notification system
Jefferson County’s emergency services agencies including law enforcement, fire and EMS will test their emergency notification system called CodeRED on Dec. 4. Starting at 9 a.m., the CodeRED system will begin making test notifications on all landline phones and registered cellphones and emails. CodeRED is used to help disseminate information about critical incidents. Landline phones are automatically included in CodeRED notifications, but residents and businesses are encouraged to visit the CodeRED registration website at your911.net to add additional contact information, including additional cellphone numbers, SMS (text) and email address preferences. Residents may also elect to receive severe weather notifications. Details at Lakewood.org/CodeRed.

Come decorate Citizens Tree
Southern Gables Sustainable Neighborhood brought a freshly cut pine tree to City Hall this week and invited residents to write their favorite thing about Lakewood on a paper ornament to hang on the tree. The tree is located inside the entrance under the copper-colored dome at 480 S. Allison Parkway. The tree comes from the neighborhood’s work with the U.S. Forest Service to cut trees in areas where the forest needs thinning. The trees also were sold to neighborhood residents as Christmas trees to raise funds for the neighborhood’s community garden. Learn about the Sustainable Neighborhoods Program at Lakewood.org/GreenNeighborhoods.

Recycling available for holiday lights
Recycle your old, broken and unused string of lights during Lakewood’s annual Holiday Recycling event, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. from Nov. 24 through Jan. 21 at the Quail Street Recycling Center, 1068 Quail St. Details at Lakewood.org/Recycling.

Police program underway at mall
The Christmas Cheer for Child program has its angel tree at the Colorado Mills Mall. Residents can buy a present for a Lakewood child in need by picking an ornament from the tree through Dec. 10. Each year, the Lakewood Police Department sponsors the Christmas Cheer for Child program to provide new gifts to children who otherwise would not be able to enjoy the Christmas season. Details at Lakewood.org/ChristmasCheer4children.

Stocking Stuffers
Perennial favorites, Timothy P. & the Rocky Mountain Stocking Stuffers have become a Lakewood Cultural Center holiday tradition, playing entertaining arrangements of original music and holiday favorites with a generous dose of humor and maybe even some special guests. Tickets for this weekend’s concerts are available at 303-987-7845, the Box Office or Lakewood.org/LCCPresents.

Family Justice Center planned to better serve crime victims
Victims of family violence can face a complex web of services to unravel and great distances to travel to get the help they need to recover from the crime. But a collaboration is underway in Jefferson County that aims to change all that by providing a one-stop shop for victims of crime called the Family Justice Center, where safety, support and services will be conveniently and readily available. Read more about this innovative concept at Lakewood.org/GoodStories.

Subdivision application
The City has received a minor final plat application to subdivide property at 1526 Ingalls St. to create eight townhome lots. The property’s existing zoning and land use requirements will not change with this request. For more information, please contact Erin Bravo, project planner, at 303-987-7548 or eribra@lakewood.org.
