Evergreen Ice cream

A Christmas treat!

When we first made this last year and served it to our friend Hutch, he said it was the best ice cream he had ever tasted!
Try it out and tell us what you think.
Pine, spruce and fir flavours are incredibly versatile and are championed by the 'New Nordic' style of cooking. Though used historically in the UK these ingredients had fallen from favour but are finding popularity again in everything from Artisan gin to Venison dishes.
You can learn about these amazing ingredients plus many many more on our Foraging courses.

Are you thinking of travelling to one of our Courses?
Why not stay on and explore the area?

It is very flattering that people travel from far and wide to join us on our foraging courses. North Yorkshire is a great place to visit and we are finding more and more that our customers are ‘making a weekend of it’ and combining our one day foraging courses with a short break.
We are often asked for recommendations of where to stay and so we thought we would put together a short list of some of the excellent local accommodation available in the area.  From Boutique hotels to farmhouse B+Bs and even a showman’s caravan, the area around the Taste the wild site has a range of places to stay to suit all tastes and budgets.

Bed and Breakfast
Lock House.  A great favourite with our guests, Lock house is a traditional Bed and breakfast just a 10 minute drive from our site. A warm welcome and a great breakfast await you here. http://www.stayatlockhouse.co.uk/
Burton Grange. The Cupit family at Burton Grange are practically our neighbours!  4 star farmhouse B+B accommodation just a stones throw from our site. http://burtongrange.wixsite.com/burton-grange
Cundall Lodge. We have been getting great feedback about Cundall lodge since we ran our first courses 12 years ago and there have been lots of happy customers since. http://www.cundall-lodgefarm.co.uk/

Pub accommodation.
The Oak Tree.  Our local! A great dining pub with good beer and very comfy rooms. Featured in Sawday’s special places. http://theoaktreehelperby.com/
The Crown inn.  A little further away but worth the 15 minute drive. The Crown Inn has beautiful rooms and tasty food. http://www.crowninnroecliffe.co.uk/

Something a bit different
Showman’s caravan. Just 2 miles from our site you can stay in this beautiful showman’s caravan set in mature gardens. Bookable via Air BnB https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/1066564
The Hideaway at Baxby Manor. How about a bit of glamping? Ecopods and bell tents, helping you get back to nature in style. https://www.thehideawayatbaxbymanor.co.uk/
Crab Manor.  Quirky, individually designed rooms in a converted Georgian manor house. http://www.crabandlobster.co.uk/
Come and visit us in North Yorkshire, enjoy a course and then explore this wonderful county.

Spring courses are booking up quickly at the moment with some fully booked already but with courses running right the way through to October we still have plenty of dates to choose from.
