In 2017, with your support, we offered more ways to gather in public than ever before, with pop-up reading rooms and other new installations. We’re committed to developing new ideas for public space in 2018 and building a city that we can all believe in. Photos and details below.
But first, we need your help. We have a specific goal: raise $10,000 by Dec 31 to fund pop-up reading rooms at every low-income playground on our wait list. And we want to do it with small donations—people helping people.
Grants and sponsorships can cover much of our other work across New York, but requests to serve these small, low-income playgrounds outstrip our resources every year, creating a wait list. With your help we can close that gap and give these kids a beautiful way to read and learn, right where they gather after school and all summer.
We meet kids on the street who are bright, curious, and primed to love learning. But the city around them doesn’t always make that easy. Your support sends a powerful, visible message about what a city can be—for kids, for everyone. Help us level the playing field with a donation.
