Hi Outback Explorer,
thank you for your patience.

At last, our calendar has been published for the 2018 season, but with a twist.

Our intrepid tour guide and living-breathing "Maralinga encyclopaedia", Robin Matthews, has decided to offer/trial a variation on the theme for the coming season.

As usual the season runs from April through to October inclusive, generally Tuesdays and Thursdays and most of our tours will remain in the current format.

However after a couple of trail runs Robin discovered that some visitors are so fascinated by this largely untold history that they just want more.

The normal one day tour visits the Maralinga airport, forward area including stops at four or so test sites. There are more sites that the tour doesn't make it to, due to time constraints, and while fairly relaxed, there is a fairly tight schedule to meet.

A two day tour?

By spreading the tour over two days, you see more, learn more and do it in a more relaxed manner. The days are a little shorter, which suits those that find the one day tour a bit tiring. If your schedule isn't too tight, the extra day spent at Maralinga can prove to be a rewarding one.

The two day tours are scheduled for the second and fourth Thursday and Friday of each month, you will camp at the village for three nights. Most of the remaining dates will still be in the one day/two night format, just like in the past. The booking page will show the dates.

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year!

Thanks you to everyone that has joined in during 2017 and previous years. You and and your highly prized feedback have made our Maralinga Tour the success it has been.

Despite issues with infrastructure at the camping ground on occasion, to their immense credit, our visitors have been understanding, helpful and extremely tolerant. For this we are eternally grateful.

We need to acknowledge Roger and Priscilla who keep the accommodation spic and span and are often troubleshooting problems at all hours and at short notice. Thanks also to the lovely staff in Ceduna that process permits. They often point people in the right direction when they have itineraries that are out of the ordinary.

Robin has made many friends over the years guiding people through the murky history of Australia's Atomic era, a task that he is passionate about. Personally, I have enjoyed speaking to many of you on the phone and via email, getting to know where you come from and the adventures you are having. Thanks for including Maralinga in your itinerary!

Best regards and safe travels from all of us on the Maralinga Tours Team.
Robin, Roger, Priscilla, Sharon, Kali, Manisha, Sue-Anne, Vaughn, and the Maralinga Tjarutja Board members and community who wholeheartedly support this project, it is a story that needs to be told.

Cheers, Tim.
