The Word’s Out

A Note from the Director

In the new year we are looking forward to breaking ground for our expansion of the community room and work area at the McKell Branch. Plans are to make this a complete facelift for our South Shore Branch with new paint and carpet throughout. Community response has been ever increasing in program attendance and daily use of the library often with program attendance overflowing or limited attendance because of space. The Greenup County Libraries are consistently disproving the myth that libraries are obsolete. Example: New York Times article from September 18, 2017 “How Libraries Are Changing to Meet the Needs of a Community-”More than just books””

The staff and community volunteers would like you to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

A Christmas tradition continues with a new addition...Santa. Santa will be here this year from 5:30pm to 6:00pm to visit with the children while they decorate their cookies. Then at 6:00pm we will show “The Polar Express”. Come in your pajamas and bring blankets and pillows and enjoy this holiday family favorite. Sign-up is required so we know how many to expect. Sign-up began on December 1st. Greenup will be on Monday December 11th and Flatwoods will be Thursday December 14th. Please contact the library to sign-up.

Miss Vicki also continues the tradition of reading “The Polar Express” to the Raceland Preschool in front of the fireplace at the Greenup Branch.

Storyhour Christmas Party

Santa will be here to visit with the children. Check the calendar for the dates and times for each location.
