lightsThe snow this morning reminds us the holidays are just around the corner!
That and the beautiful Christmas lights put up throughout the Village by Dale Desislets and his wonderful team of Village volunteers.
Thanks to everyone for all you work!  The lights are beautiful!

And there’s more coming!

Here’s a note from Dale on the next phase of decorations.

Lumiere Lighting

lightsOn the evening of Saturday, December 23, plan to take a stroll around the Village to enjoy the second annual Lumiere display. This year, we are placing the lumieres along paths in the four parks where our Christmas lights are already operating, so make a point of visiting each area. Carol singing is encouraged!

We will be lighting the candles just as it gets dark, and they should burn all evening, so while we won’t have a specific start time, there will be lots of opportunity for everyone to see the display. Please note, however, that this is weather dependent. The current forecast is clear that evening, but if it rains or snows heavily, it may be necessary to delay or cancel the lighting. We will send further information on Friday, the 22nd only in the event of poor weather.

See you Friday at the Courthouse for the Christmas party!  Menu is divine.  It all looks fabulous!  Thank you to the social group for putting this together for us all to enjoy!

Christmas ‘Tip” for Garbage Collectors

CollectorsAs most of you know, the residents of The Village have been organizing a Christmas tip fund for our garbage and recycle collectors for a number of years now to show our appreciation for the fine job they do for us throughout the year.  There are many occasions when they go above and beyond as they maneuver their way through our many laneways.

Of course, this is a voluntary project.  It is entirely up to you as to whether or not you would like to be involved … there is no pressure.   Some people choose to handle this themselves and others choose not to participate at all.

To follow up on our last notice, if you have not heard from a volunteer collector in your laneway over the past couple of weeks it probably means we do not have a volunteer for your laneway.   We do have volunteers for the Garrison Village Dr./Brock/Blackbird Laneway, the Garrison Village Dr./Jordan/Norton Laneway and the Blackbird/Norton/Brock Laneway.   Laneways in the older section of The Village each have volunteers in place as well.

If you are on one of the newer Brookfield or Gatta Laneways and would like to be involved in this tip fund project, please place your contribution in an envelope with your name and address and drop it off to either Jane Chapell at 82 Garrison Village Drive (jane.chapell@gmail.com) or Carol Fraser at 12 Blackbird St. (carol.fraserg@gmail.com).

We plan to present the money collected to the garbage collectors on December 18th so will need all contributions to be in to us by Friday, December 15th.

We suggest a $20 contribution as a guideline, although the amount you give is completely up to you.  The total amount collected is then divided between the garbage and recycle collectors. In the past they have been most appreciative of this recognition of the work they do for us.  Last year one of the collectors made a point of coming back to my house to pass along his thanks once again and tell me we had “made his Christmas” … he had two children under the age of three.

Thank you and Merry Christmas,

Jane Chapell
